Overview

For God So Loved The World by C. Arie Leder

This volume provides a unique combination of biblical, historical, theological, and missiological essays focused on the church's missionary task at the beginning of the 21st century. The diversity of topics treated, including a fresh study of Matthew 28:19-20, the thought of world Christianity pioneer Hendrik Kraemer, the role of ritual in mission, Calvin on apostolicity, Islamic power politics, urban missions in China, and a sermon on Genesis 18-19, reflect the wide variety of issues crucial for a faithful and competent proclamation of the riches of God's grace in Jesus Christ.

Arie C. Leder served the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church of Trenton, Ontario, and Christian Reformed World Missions in Latin America. Since 1987 he is Professor of Old Testament at Calvin Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, MI. He has been a guest lecturer at the Instituto Bíblico y Seminario Teológico de España in Casteldefells (Barcelona), Spain; Seminario San Pablo (Mérida) and Seminario Teologico Reformado (Coyoacán) in Mexico; and other institutions in the Spanish-speaking world. Previous publications include Reading and Hearing the Word: From Text to Sermon (Grand Rapids: CRC Publications, 1998), and various articles in the Calvin Theological Journal.
