About the Author

A native of Bayonne, New Jersey, Nick Cutro was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference running and defensive back. He led his college championship team in rushing, and still holds the schools record for most yards per carry at 13.2. Cutro was ranked eleventh in the nation in rushing, and earned honorable mention All-American honors. Following graduation, he was invited to the Philadelphia Eagles camp as a free agent but suffered an injury and was released. He was later named the head coach at Bayonne High School, and then at St. Mary's High School in Rutherford, New Jersey. His 1960 team went 8-0-1 and won the New Jersey state championship. His 1961 team repeated as state champions. Cutro was a scout for the New York Jets of the NFL from 1964 to 1969. He was assistant head coach for the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League from 1974 to 1975. Cutro later raised thoroughbred horses, and lives with his wife Caroline in Lake George, New York, and Key Largo, Florida.
