About the Author

R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.

Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.

When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.

One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.

You can find them at http://www.rlkenderson.com, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and Goodreads. Join their Facebook Reader Group. Or you can email them at , or sign up for their newsletter. They always love hearing from their readers.

OMG! The story grabs you and keeps you in the plot till the last page. Naya, the vampire princess, goes with her bff Kenzie to a new club and meets a man there named Vaughn. The two are drawn to each other and leave together. Before they leave, both make sure that Kenzie has a way home with Vaughn;s friend Sawyer. The next night Naya finds out her parents are now picking out her future mate and she;s a trifle irritated. Before her parents leave for two months they make arrangements for Naya and their choice of mate for her are scheduled to meet and spend time together with Naya;s cousin, Arianna. Although dating both Vaughn and her parent;s choice she;s torn between duty and her heart. Finally she breaks it off with Vaughn and spends several long weeks missing him and being ill. When her parents return, her mother takes one whiff and off they go to the Dr. There Naya receives news that will impact her life as well as others around her. It also unleashes a danger to not only her but the city too. Fantastic story and read!! Will keep you enthralled to the last page!!! Princess Anaya, as the future queen of the vampires, needs to mate in an arranged marriage with some male her parents choose. When a new club opens in the city Anaya decides to go out with her best friend and enjoy her last moments of freedom, and then she meets Vaughn... Vaughn is not a vampire, but makes her feel things she never felt before. Could she mate someone she doesn't love after all she has experienced with him? It's long time I don't find a book about vampires that I like so much. I liked everything! The characters (all of them!), the love story, the secondary stories... I get quite bored when a book is just about the couple and nothing more. Here we have a background story that links the book with the next ones and we can start to see the formation of the couples that will follow. Totally recommended!!! Overall I enjoyed the book. I liked the characters. Naya was easy to like but I have to say there wasn't anything special about her that stood out. I mean this was different compared to other vampire/shifter books I've read. The rules were different. She's been groomed to be Queen and although she doesnt want to family and her species is important to her therefore she doesnt complain. She's really sweet and definitely not warrior like. I dont feel she was a "strong" female character. Not that she was weak..its just not something that was in the book for her character. Vaughn I really enjoyed him. He's an Alpha who was nice. He was good to her and he wasnt a jerk at any time. I do wish he was written to be more Alpha assertive and slightly more dominant not that he was a wimp but I would have liked a little bit more. I've read some other reviews of this book and I have to agree. Some of the things that happened throughout the book were barely touched on and it became a little frustrating. Almost like it was glided over. I also feel Naya let her parents off the hook too easily. Who didnt love sweet Arianna and Emerson. I wished we got more about them. I do like the fact that this author didnt leave anyone out. It wasnt just about Vaughn and Naya but all characters and different POV's. It did take me a minute to figure out who was talking sometimes but otherwise its a decent book and I enjoyed reading it. Look forward to the next.

well written with a clean understanding of the differences between the genders, not to be sexist, but women being emotional and men being more grounded/balanced. I enjoyed the fact the story takes place in a place other than either coast (not New York or Los Angles) but right here in middle of nation.

The book is well-written and started out well enough, but it is a bit long and drawn out in places. I like details, but far too much time was spent on world building instead of on what was actually happening with the storyline. Vaughn and Naya were likable enough, but there was almost as much about other couples. I'm assuming this was build-up for future books, but it tended to take away from Vaughn and Naya's story. The biggest drawback for me was that there was buildup throughout the book about a coup being staged against Vaughn's clan, but when the action finally happens, there are no details about any outcome, if there was an outcome. A cliffhanger is one thing, but to go from what happened to a sweet, happy scene with the only answer being the main couple's HEA is a letdown.

This is an amazing start to a new series and new author(to me). It was a little hard to get into it in the beginning but after the first chapter i was hooked. This is kind of like a Romeo and Juliet type story but with alot of ups and downs. The author really knows how to create her world and characters in my opinion and everything flowed together perfectly. Cant wait to start reading the next in the series!

As a girl that has always been labeled as a “goody two shoes” this story was like red Starbursts to my inner bad girl. Naya is an innocent yet very controlled woman with a sort of charming naivety about her that makes her the perfect contrast to love ‘em and leave ‘em Vaughn. These two very different people (in soooo many ways) come together in an explosive love story that will linger in your memory for quite some time. It speaks to that part of us all that wavers between what’s “right” and what’s “right for you”. By no means does this story end with a cliffhanger. It does, however, leave you wanting more. In short…two thumbs WAAY, WAAY up for RL Kenderson’s Forbidden Blood! *Simi*

I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. At the beginning I didn't like Vaughn's attitude but the further I read I realized that this was a part of who he really was and wasn't an indication that he wasn't a good person. His emotions were a part of who he is. Naya, with so much responsibility falling on her shoulders is between a rock and a hard place feeling she is unable to make her own decisions about her future. She finally comes into her own and shows the strong determination she needs to make her own life the way she wants it. There are a few other minor stories in this book that I found intriguing and I can't wait to follow up on them in the next books in this series. I loved this book!

Wonderfully different - refreshingly so. I was thrilled with this book. Absolutely loved it! Vaughan and Naya were great together. I was very absorbed by their story. Only one issue for me, but not enough to make a stink over. My issue was the end of the chapters to the epilogue timing was 4 months apart. I was enjoying this too much to not know what happened in that time. However, the reason I said it wasn't enough to make a stink over is that I see we get Damien and Payton's story next and then it is followed by Kenzie and Sawyer together in their own book. Yep, can't wait, as I'll be reading those for certain. I know my blanks will be filled in with those two stories. Now, I just have to be patient,...oh boy, make that I have two issues...  ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

Loved it!! Can't Wait For Book 2!! As an entirety, I liked this story. The authors did a great job in explaining the nature of vampires (as well as other mystical beings) and the whole mythology behind them. It was a nice twist in vampiric fiction. However, I do have three main criticisms: (#1) I would have liked to see a more thoroughly developed relationship between Naya and Vaugh before they “fell in love”. (#2) Too many subplots and characters POV switches throughout the book. Made me feel bombarded. (#3) The ending. It ended rather haste. Over all though, a lovely lovely read! I really LOVED this book and it does have potential. I will definitely be sticking it out for books two and three and the rest of the characters in R.L. Kenderson’ world! Great debut ladies!
