from the opening pages of “Forgetting Jane” I knew it would be different from the books I’ve been reading lately and I was right! Right out of the gate CJ Warrant sets up the scene and characters in a way that not only draws us right in, but creates great visualizations (like we are watching a show on tv or a movie) and elicits genuine emotional reactions. I truly cared about the characters’ fates, and was completely shocked… and mesmerized… and horrified… at some turns of events. But beneath the surface is a deeper story, that is far more complex and profound than the summary would suggest, including a beautiful love story and of friendship. Smooth pacing a great writing – Warrant’s bio indicates that she’s an award-winning author and it’s easy to see why. I like that she did such a great job of ‘showing’ us this story though action and authentic-sounding dialogue. That, along with an interesting and diverse set of characters and several intriguing plotlines interwoven against a thrilling mystery makes this a memorable read for me. Highly recommend.

4.5 stars Holey moley, this book was terrific! Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished the whole thing. It was all I could do though not to rush it… this isn’t a ‘quick-easy beach read” by any stretch, but more like something you sink back with for a while and let it take you over and mess with your mind (in a good, creepy way) for a while. Right off the bat I enjoyed CJ Warrant’s literary “voice” and style of writing the characters in a way that we feel like we really get to know them intimately (for the most part). Loved watching the relationship develop with “Jane” (as she is called because she has amnesia and doesn’t know who she is) with Eli and thought the rest of the supporting cast was very well conceived, and their roles played out very well (no spoilers) The plotlines were intelligent, well-developed and not predictable, and (most of) the characters were all genuine and interesting in their own right despite some serious character flaws with a few of them (ha)!! But we need the bad guys too, and Warrant does them so well here, and in unpredictable ways which is so crucial in this genre, I think. I have to commend her on the way that she managed to tell not only a great story, but did so in a way that I didn’t feel like I’ve read the story a million times before. I’d love to read more from her in the future! Highly recommend to fans of thrillers/suspense with a paranormal/romantic angle or anyone who enjoys a riveting, emotionally engaging book.

this book “Forgetting Jane” by CJ Warrant was great! I was completely pulled in from the opening pages, and enjoyed the personality of the different characters (especially “Jane” and Elias but also Magda) and Warrant’s attention to detail on all fronts. Great, descriptive and haunting writing… From the beginning we are transported not only into Jane’s and Elias’s interesting (and sometimes terrifying) life, but their experiences as Jane struggles to regain her memory after a violent attack, and there are other murders happening around them as well. It is fascinating to watch the dynamic unfold with them, their romantic attraction and sexy scenes that had great chemistry and passion. This one has more shocking twists and reveals than I imagined it would – it made for some seriously captivating reading as the secrets of the past are revealed throughout and the killers motivations become known. Dark, edgy and shocking right to the end… I thought that overall the book was well written and the editing nearly flawless (rare in ebooks!) and even though I did wonder on occasion where the story was going, it was interesting to see how it all tied together in the end, which I loved! This is a standalone book (not part of any series) but I’d love to read more from C.J. Warrant some day! I would recommend this book to fans of literary/romantic thrillers and suspense with a touch of supernatural.

oh wow, I loved this book and read the whole thing in one week, which is fast for me, especially considering I have no free time to read these days! But it just seemed to go by so fast and I never wanted to stop reading it, even late into the evening. I have already loaned it to my mother to read, and my sister is right after her (it is right up their alley!) The author CJ Warrant pulls us in to the story right from the beginning pages, and skillfully narrates a wide-ranging storyline full of complex and deeply emotional issues and frightening scenes. A very good plot, but in my opinion it really is the characters who made this story so good, each so original and conflicted in their own way, and we pull for them throughout their personal journeys (except for a few who are BAD). Eli is a great lead, and so is Jane for that matter, and it is so interesting to see this all unfold through their eyes. A great read and a keeper for sure. Recommend for mature fans of romantic drama and thrillers as it has adult themes and scenes, but nothing too graphic. Too much happens in this book to cover properly in a short review so you really just have to read it for yourself… you will not be disappointed!

3.5 stars well, this novel took me a long while to read, but in the end I’d say it was worth it! I like how everything came together, and I enjoyed every page! CJ Warrant knows how to tell a riveting story that will transfix and horrify readers, but also make us feel the bonds of love and friendship. The writing is very descriptive and strong and we feel a great connection with the plight of poor “Jane” the amnesiac woman who is being haunted… and hunted. And Elias, the cop who falls for her and is trying to get to the bottom of the string of murders that seem connected. At times I felt a little confused as to the timing of the events and when the story was happening, but other than those minor issues the overall takeaway is very satisfying. Warrant delivers a complex, wonderfully connected story and we see that the past is never just that… in the past. Sometimes it may be staring you in the face, whether you want it to or not. Personally I would have preferred that Warrant took even more risks here and pushed the boundaries of typical literary tropes a bit more, because the potential was there. But it felt like a safe, somewhat familiar but overall entertaining read that I enjoyed in the end.

"Forgetting Jane” is an excellent novel that captured my attention from the beginning, pulled me in, and never once let go. Each scene was engaging, imaginative, and flowed smoothly from one to the next… never a “dull part” where you get bored or want to skip ahead… in fact almost the opposite with the various interweaving plotlines and going from one crazy scene to the next, from murders to ghostly visions, to hot sex scenes, or life and death situations and shocking twists (especially at the end) . The descriptions were very strong, and I mean with the Ms. Warrant’s word choice… vivid and powerful with great descriptions that is very easy to read and just sink right into. And even though the book is written in third-person, I felt like I was genuinely inside the characters’ heads (but mostly Elias, but we really feel Jane’s struggle too) experiencing this crazy drama through their eyes, for better or worse. It’s hard to know who to trust, and there is plenty of mystery, secrets, betrayal and danger throughout. The ending was nice, and I won’t give any spoilers (obviously) but it was cool to see how it all tied together and why (even if really messed up) and I like that the “Jane” mystery is resolved and who she ‘is’ at the end. Can’t wait to read more from CJ Warrant as she has a natural gift for creating a well-thought out story and bringing memorable characters to life in an unpredictable, engaging way. Recommend for mature fans of romantic thriller/suspense – some language, adult scenes and some gruesome killings described. But nothing gratuitous.

this was an emotional whirlwind rollercoaster that I was not expecting. LOVE these characters, even the ‘bad ones’ ha! and even though it did take me some time to feel really invested, about 25% of the way in I was pretty hooked. There is a wide supporting cast and I enjoyed watching the relationships develop (and dissolve) along the way, and see how it all is connected, even in ways that we don’t initially suspect. There are several interconnected plotlines always at play here, and kept me interested to see it through to the end. I’m not sure how to even describe this book as SO much happens, and it seems to touch on so many elements, themes, and subjects, from romance to survival, to past mysteries and family secrets, life and death situations, murder and betrayal and steamy sex. Smooth pacing, plenty of action, and amazing characters/personalities, along with real drama (even if it’s fiction and some parts are supernatural in nature) makes this a definite winner in my eyes. At first I thought I had it all figured out, but there is definitely more to this book than just meets the eye… had a lot more depth than I was expecting. The story jumps around at some parts which normally I don’t like, but it all makes sense in the end. These are some of the more interesting characters I’ve encountered lately, and I enjoyed going on Jane’s journey with her, for better or worse . Very easy reading, but also will keep you on edge of your seat, especially towards the ending. I would certainly recommend to fans of literary thrillers and romantic suspense.

this book “Forgetting Jane” by CJ Warrant seems to have something of everything… seriously. Mystery, suspense, romance, drama, secrets, personal struggles, family scandals, murder, and shocking twists and great action… but I was impressed by the seamless narrative transitions and the way that we are able to experience the story through different character perspectives without it feeling “head-hopping” (my pet peeve!), and while I’m not usually a fan of having so many characters come and go without much grounding or context, it didn’t bother me here much as I enjoyed Ms. Warrant’s skillful word-play and the way that they all did a decent job of progressing the storyline. Always found myself reading for longer than I planned to, as there was never a good place to just “stop”. This is good too. This book will have wide ranging appeal, although due to some adult subject matter it’s best suited for mature readers. I can see fans of romantic thrillers and suspense gobbling it up. Has a light paranormal element as well.

I admit I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into in deciding to read this book, because admittedly I do tend to lean towards more toward serious nonfiction or political action thrillers. And a book about a woman who has amnesia and doesn’t know who she is and now someone is trying to kill her? Probably not my usual fare. But I was intrigued by the opening sample and the way that I felt an almost immediate connection to not only the characters, but with the way that CJ Warrant was writing them – such passion and authenticity… they almost demanded that I get to know them better, which I did. I found myself just wanting to read more… and more… and more… and I couldn’t believe it when I realized I was totally hooked, and I felt transported to another world just by experiencing the lives of these incredible characters who are so true to life and authentic, yet unlike any I’ve met before. Dark, twisted, and with secrets that come back to haunt, this story could have been another cliché thriller, but it was far from it because Warrant made the characters unique but still very relatable and real, and it never felt contrived even though a few elements are a little ‘out there’ (like seeing ghosts), but I didn’t guess the ending, and I usually see these things coming. Really glad I took a chance on this one. Would recommend for mature fans of romantic suspense/crime thrillers.

4.5 stars I really liked this book, “Forgetting Jane” by C Warrant. It was excellently written and plotted, and the storylines were captivating right up to the end. It definitely got my attention from the intriguing opening and I wanted to know what had happened to Jane and why she was that way. But it was Elias who really grew on me, along with the mysteries of the string of murders... if they are connected, and then Jane’s life is in danger again from the killer. Nice and creepy. But also romantic and sexy (in a very non-creepy way, lol) It is really fast paced, but it isn’t a ‘quick’ read (if that makes sense) There are too many interesting events and crazy (literally) experiences here to gloss over so Ms. Warrant takes her time in developing the storylines so that we the readers are thoroughly invested the whole way through as sins of the past and certain characters come to light in very dramatic, unexpected ways. There’s lots of little threads here in this story that keep us hooked, and I found myself completely lost in this dangerous, sexy world she recanted night after night. Was almost disappointed when I was done, but the ending gave the emotional satisfaction I look for in a great book, which is rare for me these days, especially in this genre. Well done. Recommend to fans of literary thrillers/suspense or anyone who just enjoys an entertaining, well-written story with lots of drama and you actually feel like you are a part of the thrilling and sexy action unfold.

just a heads up…when starting “Forgetting Jane” by CJ Warrant, make sure you don’t have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won’t want to stop reading until you’ve finished it all!! Trust me on this! The author wastes no time setting the stage and tone for the book and how the mysterious young victim’s (“Jane”) story is going to be interesting – starting from the fact that barely survives a brutal attack and is rescued by some men, and Elias, who is a cop. While Jane is clinging to life, and then recovering, Elias vows to find who did this to her and keep her safe. Well, both promises end up being a lot more complicated and difficult than expected, as the attacker not only kills more women (possibly) but is after Jane again. The characters and storylines are so well-developed and fully fleshed out you feel like you know them personally, and I think what I liked the most about this book was just the overall feel the author managed to create where it felt intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really crazy, interesting story that I didn’t want to stop listening to and I felt personally invested in both Jane and Elias’s story, as well as their romance. The writing is very descriptive and you can picture everything perfectly. There are some seriously surprising twists and some parts that really catch you off guard – some shocking and some sad… but that just made this book even more addicting. Very good editing and formatting and I was really impressed the wat that CJ Warrant managed to create such an original experience in a genre usually filled with copycats. Great job – looking forward to more from this author. Adults only.

I couldn't put it down. It has a mixture of ghostly thriller and romance that I liked very much. Can't wait for her next book.
