The overarching approach in this book is to be biblically theocentric. There is a strong desire to avoid the distortions of purely humanistic thought that creeps into God’s church in each generation. The whole book clearly rests on the foundation of God’s ultimate work in redemptive history of the atoning sacrifice of Christ to provide the model and basis for transformed lives. There is no claim by the author to be exhaustive in content, but he does an excellent job of summarizing church history (church councils, etc.), biblical concepts, and personal experience. The author has a good grasp of what it means to be truly “born again.” The book will promote growth in understanding the necessity of full reconciliation with God and neighbors. The reader will be closer to a touch of the glorious New Earth after completing the book and the eight week study guide included in the appendix of the book. The book reflects the weightiness of God. There is substance to the book. Anyone who digests the content of Larry Ellis’s book will radiate God’s goodness in this world and the next. “Praise God from whom all blessings flow.” It is a book well worth purchasing.

Forgiveness, a formidable topic that many have written about but few have managed to explain. The concepts that Dr. Larry Ellis presents are eye opening and place a fresh look at what forgiveness is all about. He gets down to the meat of the subject and truly explains what forgiveness is and what it is not. I truly appreciate the fact that he used the Scriptures and other ancient texts as the basis for his research and not today's 'pop' psychology In my humble opinion the study is about a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and God's abundant amazing Grace. I would recommend this book to anyone and would encourage those in leadership in the local church to use in the study of forgiveness.

Forgiveness in my life has been on many levels: from the "sorry" of a little girl to the agony of "How can I forgive this?" as an adult. Dr. Larry Ellis' book, Forgiveness: Unleashing a Transformational Process, not only offered statements and concepts that challenged my thinking, but helped me to grow passed issues that have been stumbling blocks for years. Transformational? YES! Examples of what I considered life-changing and life-challenging concepts include: (1) forgiving and excusing a person are almost opposites; (2) forgiveness is not forgiveness without a true change of heart and our worldview is a big determiner of what we do regarding the rights and wrongs in our lives; (3) forgiveness is a means of expressing love in the world; and (4) giving and receiving forgiveness is an expression of our total allegiance to God and is a potent act of worship. Those are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what Ellis offers! I recommend this book to you as a personal growth point, as an answer to forgiveness issues, and as a resource with which to help others.

I have just received a copy of Dr. Larry Ellis's new book, Forgiveness: Unleashing a Transformational Process. This is one important book on the subject of forgiveness. Ellis has provided a very helpful insights on this essential topic. He has done an in-depth study on biblical principles of forgiveness. We live in this world full of problems in which we hurt one another almost daily; therefore, this book is an effective tool helping us to recognize the nature of God and his gift of forgiveness through his Son Jesus Christ. Reading it, I believed, your knowledge and willingness to forgive will increase for the glory of His name, and the result is that you will be able to bring healing of hearts to many who are heartbroken, those who know Christ and those who do not know him. Each clergy, missionary and all Christians in various fields should consider having this book.

Regardless of how many books one may have read about forgiveness, Larry D. Ellis' work must be the next book on your list. The author does more than speak theoretically, but personally from the crucible of his own life's journey. Ellis' book does not disappoint. Instead, it inspires, convicts and blesses. Most of all, though, it shines a bright light on the most important act of being fully human - giving and receiving forgiveness.
