I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. Forgiving Reed was a good book. I guess I was just hoping for a bit more to Kori and Reed’s story. I hate to say it, but I spent the first third of the book having to remind myself that grief makes us do stupid things, especially when grieving the loss of one’s significant other. And that Kori’s grief over Blake’s death was most likely compounded by post-partum depression and post-traumatic stress disorder from the accident. Even knowing personally what it’s like to lose your partner, Kori’s yes-no-yes-no internal monologue about Reed began to drive me nuts … or I should say that I felt like as a reader I was subjected to it for too long. I get the wavering, I really do because I’ve been there, but I just felt like the story dragged a bit because of it. I also think Ms. Harms dropped the ball on two story threads and as I was getting ready to list them, I realized I can’t because of spoiler issues; hopefully they’ll be addressed in the next book, but I feel like it was a missed opportunity.   Normally I like dual perspective books and enjoying getting inside the head of both main characters. In this case, however, being inside Reed’s head wasn’t much different than being inside Kori’s head. I grew up in the Panhandle of Florida, the part referred to by people in that area as L.A. (Lower Alabama), so I know ‘Bama boys and Georgia boys, and Reed just didn’t feel like one. There was almost no discernable difference in the characters’ voices. Did this ruin the book? Not at all. I doubt that it will be an issue for the vast majority of readers; but for me, it was the difference between a good book and a great book.  There were definitely parts of the book that I loved. I loved it when Kori finally told Kim off – how Kori resisted smacking her, I’ll never know. I absolutely loved the way that Reed loved Rhett. The bedtime scene when Reed tells Rhett about his father had me in tears. It’s the kind of scene I imagine every single mother prays for, yet not enough of them get. Most importantly, I loved that Kori gave Reed the chance to prove that he was not the 18 year-old boy she left behind, thus allowing herself to be in the position to forgive him and giving them both another chance at love. I definitely enjoyed Forgiving Reed, I just didn’t love it and I really wanted to love it. This is my first book by Ms. Harms, but it won’t be my last as I plan to read the next book in the Southern Boys series, Finding Gavin, because I have to know what happens to Maria. ~Wicked Reads Review Team ~

Have by our tissues ready. This is such a beautiful story. Kori & Reed were friends first and then dated. He messed up before she left for college. Kori met Blake and fell in love but one drink night she got pregnant. He graduated and she has her last year of school left. His parents didn't agree. They were in their for a get away weekend when they had the accident that took Blake from her and the birth of their son Rhett. She moved back with her parents in Georgia. And the one person she wasn't sure she was ready to see. But he proves to a better man than he was.

C.A. Harms took a tragic moment and turned it into a beautiful love story. I adored this book from the very beginning. There was not a moment in this book that I wasn’t moved. From the struggle and loss to the birth of something new and wonderful. I was touched and in awe of a love that was made to last a lifetime and the love that was a second chance. Kori was on her way to the final chapter in her story. She was getting her happily every after. But tragedy struck in an instant and she was left with a brand new baby and no one to help her love him. Kori moved back to her hometown and after starting to live again, she runs into her first love. The man that betrayed her. The man that did the unthinkable and ruined everything the two of them had at one point, Reed. Kori was lucky enough to move on and begin again once. But coming back home and seeing him was not something she was ready for. But everything changes when you leave home and then return. Reed wasn’t the same guy that he had been back then and he would give nearly anything for a second chance with the only woman he ever loved. But one drunken night so many years ago and everything changed and he lost the one woman that was his future. There is no way she is going to let him back into her heart and give him a second chance. She has been through enough already. But he wants that more than everything. Kori needs to learn to live again and maybe event to love again and she admits that, but is Reed the one that can help her do that? Can she find a way to leave the past in the past and be able to move forward with the first great love of her life or will she continue to be haunted by the love she lost? As I said, this book had my emotions all wrapped up within one or two pages in the beginning. It was touching and heartwarming. It was strength and hope. It was beautiful. I will say, that I was expecting so much more drama when I began this book. It started out with such a tragic moment, I was expecting it to just be so full of angst. Now, just because that is what I was expecting, does not mean I was disappointed when it wasn’t all full of the drama! This book played on my emotional side and that was pretty powerful to me and though it wasn’t what I expected, it worked so well. I love the story, I loved the characters and I loved every tear I shed and every smile I smiled. This book was well written and full of love, passion and forgiveness. It was a truly touching look at survival and life.

Forgiving Reed by CA Harms I thoroughly enjoy C.A. Harms. She knows how to write so that you are pulled in and held captive page after page.  Kori returns home heartbroken. Her past is there and in her face.  Reed lost her long ago because of a stupid mistake. This story is filled with love and shows how letting people in really can be the best thing or the only thing you need.  I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first in the Southern Boys series and I have to say I'm looking forward to reading more. heartbreaking at times, I recommend plenty of tissues at hand. The author touches on the difficult subjects of love, betrayal and forgiveness, as well as admitting past misdemeanors in Reed's case. Although the story is slow-paced I felt that it was about the right speed for this particular book, as it enabled time to fully appreciate the feelings of the characters.

5 Emotionally Charged Stars MY THOUGHTS~  I was provided with an ARC/Review copy for review. This was my first time reading anything by C.A. Harms and I was very impressed! I LOVED this book! Talk about HOT, SEXY, country boys! Wow! Loved Reed <3 Forgiving Reed was a highly emotional read for me. While I've never experienced some of the things that occur in this book (thankfully), I totally FELT the main characters' pain and fears. On the bright side, it's also the same for the positive feelings. This is such a well written book! I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the Southern Boys series! Gavin's story seems promising after all the goodness that is Forgiving Reed!

** Review was provided by author in exchange for an honest review ** 10/14 marked as: to-read 10/27 marked as: currently-reading 10/27 6.0% "only read the prologue and I'm already in tears!" 10/29 44.0% "I can't stop reading <3" 10/31 69.0% 10/31 marked as: read *Sighs* Realistically, I would give this book a 3.5. It was definitely a story about love, a word used a gazillion times. Kori, bless her, had her heart broken and moved away leaving it all behind her. She had a year long relationship with Blake who showed her how to love how it felt to be loved, something she didn't believe would happen after her break up from cheating Reed. Heavily pregnant, Blake and Kori head out for a surprise trip when disaster strikes, tearing Blake from her life, and bringing along Rhett, their son. This part of the story crumbled me as you can see from my 1st update. Kori moves back home to bring her son up and pick up the destroyed pieces of her heart and life, for that I honestly commend Kori. It's that move that brings Reed back into her life, now no longer a stupid teen, but a gorgeous, swoon worthy man (yes, the cover stayed in my head the whole time, I mean come on... *drools*) It's a slow process but they manage to rekindle their spark and have an amazing love FILLED relationship as Reed becomes a 2nd father to Rhett who both adore each other. There are times in the book where a mishap happens courtesy of illness, near death and the one woman who destroyed them in the 1st place but other than that, there isn't much angst. It certainly is a tale about finding your one and only, just like we all do, but if you're like me and sat at home dreaming of a Reed, only to get someone like, Gavin, the farm hand. My only argh moment while reading was when a saw the past tense of drag written as drug... i'm certain it's dragged. A cute romantic story with only minor complications that get in the way of that... The 1st 20-ish chapters are in Kori's P.O.V and the last 12 I think are in Reeds. it was nice to read and see it through both of their eye's.

This is one of those stories that will rip you heart out from the beginning and by the end it will be put back together again. I was crying while reading the prologue and that told me that this was gonna be a fantastic story that would use all my emotions to get to the end. And it did, every page was like holding my breath to see what would happen next. Kori will go through hell and with Reed and Rhett’s help she will learn to live and love again. She will have to decide if she can forgive Reed for his past mistake and make a future with him. I will stop there, don’t want to spoil anything and just say that you will not be disappointed with this one.  I love CA Harms and her writing style. I loved this one and can’t wait for book 2 to see what happens with Maria & Gavin. **Copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review**

This is book one in the Southern Boys Series.  I gave this book 5 stars.  This is not my first book from CA Harms, I love her writing, and you will not be disappointed with this book. The beginning of this book tore out my heart and I was so freaking heart broken. I was unsure if I was going to be able to get past everything that happened. Kori blames herself for so much and has so much guilt .. The only thing that really keeps her going is her baby boy Rhett. She has to learn to live her life a totally different way than what she expected. So when Reed pops back in her life she needs to figure out whether or not she is going to forgive him for all the things that he has done to her.  Reed did so many bad things when he was a teenager, but he was just that a teenager he made bad choices and he is paying for them. He gets a second chance and he needs to prove to Kori that he has changed. But with all that she has lost he knows that he is going to have to take it slow with her.  I loved Reed I know he did some horrible things in the past, but just the way he handles himself shows how much he has grown. Kori is someone who has to learn to forgive herself before she can forgive anyone else. But you see her grow in  this book and it is a long journey, but in the end the ones that are the longest are the ones that are worth it. I was so glad that I got to read this book .. I can't wait to read more in this series.. SO thank you CA for a wonderful series.
