The U.S. Constabulary by their actions brought law and order, stability, and security to the American Zone of Occupation. This enabled the Germans with their industriousness and determination and with the assistance of American Military Government personnel in place to take control of their own Police and Government responsibilities bringing a sense of normalcy to the German people.

What happens after the fighting stops? John Capone's book "Forgotten Peacekeepers" answers that question for post WWII Germany. He tells the interesting but often overlooked story of the Army's role as the U.S. Constabulary. The book, written by someone who participated in this important mission, is a great read. I highly recommend it. The next time I watch a movie that has a post WWII Germany as a backdrop, I will look for those distinctive helmets!
The author tells a little known story that must be told. It is historically factual and enlightening. The author's personal experience adds to the interest and insight of the story. The Constabulary Trooper was a new type of elite and well prepared U.S. police-soldier, who played a key role in bringing Germany back after the ravages of war and helped to restore peace and democracy. In reading this interesting and well written book, you will share in the passion of the author who honors their contributions and assures that the Constabulary Trooper is NOT FORGOTTEN!!
