This book provides basic step-by-step instructions on how to format your ebook for the Barnes and Noble Nook so that you can publish it on Barnes and Noble and make it available for sale to the public. This book gives you the necessary steps to format your novel as quickly as possible without using Barnes and Noble's conversion tools. This book is not a reference guide that tells you every minute detail about formatting books for Nook.

If you don’t want to pay $75-$150 to have some service convert a manuscript into the Nook format, but you also don’t want to spend a lot of time on it yourself, then this book is for you. This is also for you if you don’t like the automatic conversion results that the Nook tools provide.

The goal of this guide is to enable you to (relatively) quickly format your novel in a simple fashion with cover art, title page, dedication page, clickable table of contents, chapter titles, acknowledgments, about the author page, and books by the author page. These instructions tell you how to format your ebook in one way, with minimal options. After you learn the instructions in this book, you should be able format your novel in about four hours, unless it’s very long.

This book includes a link to a zip file containing templates that you can re-use for any novel you want to format for Nook. You do NOT need to know HTML. You just need to replace a lot of placeholder text to specify your book information in a text editor such as Notepad or Microsoft Expression.

You’ll also need to do a lot of Find & Replace on your novel in Word, plus some Copy & Paste.

These instructions tell you how to include the following in your ebook:

Cover art and other images
• Line breaks
• Cover page, title page, dedication page, clickable table of contents, acknowledgments page, about the author page, other books pages
• Chapters that start on a new page with nice white space
• Italics, bold, and underlined text
• Bulleted and numbered lists (although this is very tedious and manual)

This guide also includes instructions to:
• Clean up your novel in Word and add appropriate tags
• Validate your ePUB file (with fixes for common errors)
• Zip up your book and upload it to Barnes and Noble

73 chapters plus 4 appendices. Use Click to LOOK INSIDE above to see the table of contents.

NOTE 1: Do not buy this book unless you want to publish your book to Barnes and Noble and make it available for the public to buy. Do not buy this book if you are content with the automated conversion tools that Barnes and Noble provides to authors and publishers.

NOTE 2: I wrote these instructions for a Windows PC system. These instructions will not work on a Mac system.

NOTE 3: This guide does not explain how to format tables. If your novel has lots of tables do not buy this book.

NOTE 4: This is a very long and arduous process. If you are easily frustrated by long, complex, boring work, computers, or troubleshooting, you probably shouldn't use this book.
