For many people, including myself, experiencing problems
with frustration, anxiety, finances, and family
situations, among other things, are a normal way of life. No, I
have not yet arrived at that perfect walk and relationship with
the Lord, but I am striving to be more Christlike every day.
The Lord has called us to become victors, not victims,
through the blood of Jesus Christ. There are countless people,
Christian and non-Christian alike, who suffer needlessly.
Please understand there are times when mourning is needed,
the loss of a loved one, feeling convicted for sin in our lives, or
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of
sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid
as it were our faces from him: he was despised,
and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne
our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we
did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him: and
with his stripes we are healed.
Jesus took the burden of our sin and affliction, giving us salvation
not only from sin, but also from everyday life. Through
this we can receive peace and the opportunity to give our problem-
causing situations to Him, “Casting all your care upon
him: for he careth for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).
The Lord can give us peace even in the little things, like
being late for an appointment, having a hard time at work, relationship
problems, and when nothing at all seems to be going
right. It was through the cross that the Lord bridged the gap between
Him and us. Through the selfless act of Jesus Christ, we
have access to all the Lord God has to offer us. There is nothing
that He cannot do, but the path toward freedom begins with
our willingness to let Him begin His work in our lives.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but
the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
