The Four Day Win by Martha Beck, PhD is an innovative and entertaining book that ¿will help you end your diet war and achieve thinner peace.¿ To that end, Beck offers a series of psychological exercises called ¿four day wins.¿ These introspective but easy strategies help the reader learn more about the inner self, and what one can do to attain a healthier lifestyle. Beck writes with a sometimes self-deprecating, yet humorous and down-to-earth style that quickly puts the reader at ease. But the book is far from a quick-fix program or fad diet. Beck wants more for the dieter than temporary success at weight loss. Her insights and suggestions will help the reader gain a more optimistic outlook on life and bring out the ¿thinner¿ you. The Four Day Win is a great read for those wishing to achieve a healthy sense of well-being while losing weight at the same time. Martha Beck's strategies in The Four Day Win are incredibly helpful. This was the first book I read cover to cover in years. Now, I keep it by my bedside and slowly work the strategies into my life. I've never read a book that was so fun to read, while also being incredibly informative and so easy to apply to my own life. Not to mention that it is different from the typical weight loss book. Martha addresses the fact that EVERYBODY says, "In order to lose weight, you must move more and eat less." She sheds new light on an old subject when she says that we all know that, but it doesn't change our behavior. This is a great read, and the strategies will certainly make the weight loss process one you can succeed at.
