Told through frank letters from the author to her father, this colorful memoir illustrates the lives of the Lindsay familyJeanne, her husband, and their four children under the age of fivefrom 1957 to 1959. The adventure of raising such a young family is filled with joys as well as frustrations, but Jeanne reveals how she learned from her mistakes along the way and came to view herself as a successful parent, despite a lack of guidance and structure that are available to new parents today. Recalling a simpler time, this account of life in suburban Iowa will remind Baby Boomer readers of their own childhoods or parenting experiences.
