If I only knew the mountains I lived near my entire life had such rich history, I would have started seeking it out much earlier. I picked this book up while living in the colorado and it made me crave the Appalacians. The author and his students have done something specail here. They have recorded a history that would have otherwise been forgotton. In essence, by recording this way of life, they have preserved it.
