I just finished reading this book, and I feel like I have just met some amazing and brave new friends that Virginia McKevitt has brought me into her inner circle to introduce to me. These people are so unique and introduced so flawlessly, each one is a treasure to get to know as you turn the pages. I feel so drawn into the story and fell in love with every character, well except those evil ones. I look forward to getting to know and hear about these brave people in their quest, and look forward to reading the next book!!! Thank you for sharing your imagination and story with all of us.

A smartly accomplished and compelling plot! Talent and imagination meet technique in the unlikeliest of places.... the "Fracture" between two worlds. The characters are driven by McKevitt's own hand. Built by her obvious vivid imagination you will come to know them personally. They will pull you in to the story not chapter by chapter but paragraph by paragraph. McKevitt's writing style is freshly surprising and flourishes with touches of realism that make the "Secret Enemy Saga" a double edged tale that lingers long after the last word is read. McKevitt's thought processes are well formed and believable. Maybe too believable. The ending left me wanting more ...... Thankfully, Book 2 is in the works! Keep writing McKevitt!

If you want to read something ORIGINAL for a change of pace from the usual paranormal fare, this book is for you! Virginia has created a wonderful cross of modern day setting and fantasy, with unique characters. Suitable for YA and older, this story will take you on a multi-dimensional adventure as you delve into the hearts and lives of the main characters during their quest to battle a seductively unique enemy! The tale pulled me in and held me captive, delivering just enough adventure and romance to wet my appetite! I want more of this! Very well thought out and written, I cannot wait for the continuation of this series!! Bravo Virginia!

Fracture, this book has taken me away from reality in so many ways. I got to know Kristina and feel her close to me. A strong, independent young girl who has to face one of life worst situations and deal with it. Then she finds out half her life hasn't been as honest as she'd grown up believing, there were things about herself that she didn't know. After that, she meets life, her past, her future, love, part of her family. She discovers she isn't just a small town girl with some dreams and a happy life. She needs to learn a lot, learn how to see, how to fight, how to survive. She needs to save the world. Tegrin, that is one mysterious character, a warrior, a cold hearted assassin with only murder in his mind and no room for love in his life. He has been sent on a mission and nothing and no one will prevent him from finishing it. He has the prowess of a big hunter feline, the looks of a big model and a heart seemingly made of stone. Yorandt, a man, a friend, a brother, a king. The one man who carries all the weight and must make the toughest decisions while he cares for those he loves. Sissy and Jimmy, strong, willful, resourceful and determined to help Kristina save the world and be happy. Bo, my favorite, an ex-CIA with a huge heart, a strong sense of service and a wonderful personality. You will be surprised. The story is exciting, thrilling, suspenseful and romance, Ms. McKevitt has done a wonderful job putting it all together with great characters to take you on a journey you won't easily forget.

What can I say besides BRAVO!!!! Wow! What a phenomenal book! I swept me away into a world that took hold and just would not let go! The characters were so well written and I just fell in love with them. It is fresh and new and so very well written that I felt as if I had been pulled through the fracture between the worlds myself! I highly recommend this wonderful series and can not WAIT to see what happens next!!!

Fracture by Virginia McKevitt is one of the best books I have read this year. I love the characters. The plot is unique and very easy to follow. She is so descriptive in the scenes, that it is easy to imagine myself in both worlds. I love that Kristina is beautiful, loving, AND a warrior. I cannot wait until book II. I am addicted to this series.  A must read.

Find this review and more at Lusty Penguin Reviews! The first book in the Secret Enemy Saga, Fracture, is a satisfying and enjoyable sci-fi/fantasy novel. Virginia McKevitt develops an intricate universe where parallel worlds are connected by a fracture. One world is the modern world as we know it, where technology reigns, and the other world is filled with kings, clans, and magic. To go along with these separate worlds, McKevitt creates original beings who live in the magic world, especially creepy are the Couton, creatures who feast on your memories. McKevitt’s memorable characters draw you right into the story. Tegrin, a member of the Lion Clan or Guardians, is sent to the human world to protect it from the Couton. Kristina, whose parents were murdered by the Couton, wants to help Tegrin eliminate them. As Tegrin and Kristina work together, they discover that Kristina has a surprising link to both worlds. Now, Kristina needs to balance her newfound abilities and her connection to Tegrin. Even though her life changed overnight, Kristina never loses her sense of humor, which made her character that much more likeable. Tegrin also needs to balance his life between his work as a Guardian and his growing feelings toward Kristina. Because of these struggles, Tegrin and Kristina complement each other, making them an engaging couple. Using romantic tension and witty banter, McKevitt adds depth to this story with the development of secondary characters, Jimmy and Sissy, and their willingness to help save the world. Mixing a perfect blend of lively characters, action, and adventure with a touch of mystery thrown in, Fracture is a page-turning story not to be missed. I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review* I’ll admit when I started reading the very first chapter I wasn’t sure how much I would like this book. It was my first fantasy novel, but I wanted to expand my reading base so I continued to read on and I am very pleased that I did.  It started off a little slow but I believe it was building up to the action half way through the book. There was so much detail packed into the pages. The author cleverly combines the fantasy world of Patwain with earth. There is a fracture between the two, leaving both worlds vulnerable and accessible. I really liked the idea of The Couton- beautiful alluring women with the ability to steal memories. This was original and unlike anything I had ever read before. Tegrin, the lion-esque man is sent from Patwain to stop these women. It is then that he meets Kristina and they soon realise that their worlds are entwined beyond what they could have ever imagined. I enjoyed learning about the true identity of Kristina’s heritage and her quest for revenge after the death of her parents. It took me a little longer to connect with Tegrin but once I opened myself up to accept the fantasy element, I enjoyed his story and his own quest. This was a really good book, like no other I have read. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the rich descriptions she created. After knowing how it ends I can’t wait to read the second book!

The plot kept the pages turning nonstop. I couldn't put the book down. The first night I got the book, I stayed up late reading it. Her characters are well developed as well as her plot and the motivation that drives her characters. Virginia's active imagination draws us in as if we were one of the characters ourself. I can not wait for the second book in the saga! Joncie Prewitt
