Overview

Thomas-James Fisher is a 24 year old freelance Photographer based in Soho, London.
Thomas-James started photography at the age of 14 as a form of therapy following a period when he was suffering from Anorexia and depression. His parents gave him a camera and laptop and told him to record all of his happiest moments, which he still continues to do daily.
Getting through his issues seemed like an impossible task, but with help from his family he focused on his creativity and against the odds managed to find himself an acting agent in London who secured him more auditions than actual roles, but more importantly made him realise that his heart was not in front of the camera. Since then he has been totally focused on capturing the world through his own lens.
Thomas-James moved to London just before his eighteenth birthday. Having achieved his basic needs of a job to pay the rent and put food on the table he has during his spare time worked as an assistant with a number of studios and photographers. He has greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn and gain experience, but felt his creativity was being restrained and that he would have to follow his own direction to archive his vision and goal. A photograph should capture an image that ultimately challenges the viewer to look deep inside themselves to determine what they see and allow them to determine the meaning to them.
'FReaKS' started as a small test project, but soon became yet another form of therapy with each image telling a story from his years of Anorexia and depression. Casting out the demons can be both therapeutic and creative. With his issues behind him he is truly focused on the creative.
Thomas-James featured on the second edition of Sachet Mixte. Soon after the publication was released his 'FReaKS' project was featured in a number of online magazines and after 1 year, the project finally was complete in July 2014
'FReaKS' was never about creating a shock factor, it was always about telling a story, and for the audience to decide the story for themselves?
