I enjoyed Peter Freestone's read of the personal life & quirky "picodillos" of the great Freddie Mercury (as I am a rabid fan of not only his works of rock genius written & performed with Queen, but also his solo work prior to his untimely death. However, even I am not of the "highly obsessed Fred-o-Phile" who may require such detailed accounts as...the color & texture of his bath tiles...or his constant need to buy tiny lacqered art boxes...and so on (etc). However, remembering the fact that this memoir is penned by his PA (aka maid, chef, nurse) and you can make it thru the fussy, somewhat incoherant details, there is a real story here...of 2 men who truly couldn't have "made it" in their respective & completelely opposite careers without one another! While Freestone was Not one of Freddie's varied & numerous "lovers," by the end of the book, you have a a genuine feeling of true respect & familial comradery between these two men, each reliant on the other for very diverse & personal reasons. (I cried) (-;

I loved this book, I had a copy when I was younger but lost it. It made me cry. Offered great details and insight into Freddie's real personal life. I thought it was beautiful.

It's a good read, but a little too heavy on subjects such as his interior design. Having been written by a British author, the wording was a little hard to understand from an American point of view. There was not much background on Freddie, having been written from a certain point on his life. I would have liked a little more background. Very touching regarding the end of his life and what he went through.

My opinion to anyone who wants to know what the book is about... This book is from a greatful employee/friend who stayed with his boss/friend to the painful end. A personal account of how he sees life with Freddie, the way it appeared to him. As for a book perse', it is not as organized as one might expect. As a matter of fact it may appear as 'rambling' on and often repeats what was stated already in a previous paragraph or chapter. He digresses in his story ALOT. Nonetheless, his dedication and some frustration of being Freddies PA are apparent and give insight to what it might mean being a personal assistant to an Entertainer. As so aptly put in the book, "Mr Mercury has left the building", lets let him have his peace!

For those interested in Freddie Mercury the man, this is the book for you. What better person to provide that insight than one his most trusted friend's and personal assistant. I was quiet moved by his personal assessments and insight of Freddie, and the paradox he was in so many ways. Despite the fame, very close friends, and trappings of his life he struck me as someone that was very

I would like to say again this book is the most in lighting book on Freddie Mercury that has ever been published. It has thing only and insider could have know about the man who took care of Freddie Mercury. I know for a fact that you people who loved Freddie Mercury and Queen have the inside look of both. So go my darlings, and go buy this book. You really have to love Queen. The books I would also like to say that the books that I've listed below are great. Some where hard to find ,but worth finding. I'm sure there are more out there so look and let me know what you find.
