Wow! Freefall left me speechless by the time I finished the story. At first I thought, 'I love Kristen Heitzmann. I've read all of her historicals and they were awesome. This'll probably be good, but not as good as her past novels.' WRONG! The suspense was incredible. The plot intricate. The setting exotic (nothing like spending time on the beach on not getting a sunburn. I think I even learned how to surf without hitting a single wave.) The romance also sizzled. Of course, those who know me know I love the edgier stuff (in other words, the passion and realism of romantic tension) and this baby is packed with it! The perpetrators and thugs were believeable and unlikeble--as they should be. I felt the heroine's fear, her confusion, her passion. Boy, that was a wild ride! I liked how the author occasionally inserted another person's POV to give you that person's perspective. Sweet. Overall, I'd have to say that this is the best romantic suspense novel I've EVER read. I mean EVER! Too bad the rest of the world has to wait until Nov. 28th to get their own copy. I read a galley so I had the privilege of getting a sneak peek. I give Freefall ten stars!

I'm surprised at all the good reviews. I found the writing overdone and excruciatingly slow moving. The romance was so typical: Oh gee, who would've guessed the cynical handsome guy who didn't trust Gentry would fall in love with her. Duh! I used to force myself to finish every novel I start, but after reading books for close to 60 years, I've decided not to waste time on those not engaging me. I found myself skipping pages just to see what ultimately happens. I live on Kauai, born and raised in Hawaii and found many parts were "corny" and not authentic. For instance I've never heard of a mob of journalists showing up to harass a celebrity, even in Honolulu, much less on Kauai. I appreciate that the author tried to be realistic by using pidgin English, but I found it irritating to read, even though I sometimes speak it myself and hear it daily. I'm surprised other readers didn't mind it.

This book was the most amazing roller coaster ride, from the first word to the last page. The writing was beautiful, the characters deep, the emotions real. I LIVED each chapter. God was presented in the most uniquely spiritual way. I cannot find the words to give justice to this book...just read it! Review by CherishD

I am new to Christian-based fiction and really enjoyed this book. The writing was solid, the imagery of the locations made me want to go to Hawaii, and it was refreshing to read a book with beliveable sexual tension without excessive graphic descriptions and people having meaningless sex. I also enjoyed the way the plot was doled out in glimpses, building the story without giving everything away all at once. I fully intend to check out more books by Kristen Heitzmann!

Beautifully crafted story, multi-faceted and riveting, enhanced by the writer's use of Hawaiian pidgin and description of surfing and the movie-making process. I actually learned something while being entertained. Highly recommended .
