About the Author

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, USA Today Bestselling Author, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn't do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss, and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again). So began A. M. Hargrove's career as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author. Her books include the following: Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge and Kissing Fire (The Edge Series); The Guardians of Vesturon series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent and Beginnings); Dark Waltz, Death Waltz, Tragically Flawed (Tragic 1), Tragic Desires (Tragic 2); Exquisite Betrayal, Dirty Nights; Freeing Her, Freeing Him, and Kestrel (The Hart Brothers Series). Other than being in love with writing about romantic suspense, she loves chocolate, ice cream, and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

This is the first book in A Hart Brothers Series and the first book I have read by this author. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. This is the story of Kolson & Gabriella. They both have extreme baggage from their pasts, that may prevent them from building a future. The story deals with serious subject matter, but I didn't feel overwhelmed by it. In fact it may have been dealt with a bit too lightly. I really liked this story and look forward to reading the next one, Freeing Him. Enjoy!

I received a copy from the author for an honest review. Freeing Her is sizzling, intense, full of heart-stopping suspense & so much more!!! A.M. Hargrove really gave me everything I could have wanted with this amazing story and with the chemistry between these characters! She definitely will leave you wanting more! The book starts out with Gabriella, a psychiatrist, having someone come back into her life. This person is the last person she wants to be around and it scares her. Danny is her cousin and he abused her, and has been stalking her. She goes out and tries to get drunk to avoid the pain of him finding her. She meets a man at the bar that night who helps her and she calls him Skippy, but his name is Kolton. Kolton is mysterious and sexy. He worries that Gabriella is in big trouble. He doesn't like the fact that she seems so scared. They are both attracted to one another and the chemistry is undeniable. They both have secrets and have a hard time learning to trust.  Will they learn to trust and tell each other their secrets, or will they risk losing it all because of fear? A.M. Hargove did an amazing job with this book and by the end all of your questions will not be answered! You will be dying for book 2, Freeing Him!!! I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars and this is definitely an adult read!!!

I just finished reading this book. The author did not disappoint me. I have read 6 other books by this author and have enjoyed everyone. All of the characters are injured people but are strong in their own right. Gabby learns to trust. I cant wait for the next book.

At the end of this book I was hoping *fingers crossed* that there was a super secret link that would continue the story and give up the dirt on Kolson. Sadly that was not the case. Just an idea… This is a dark read.  Raw and painful at times, yet never gratuitous. The focus being more on survival and strength. Yet Gabriella’s tormentor is still very much in the picture.  He’s wearing down her already very tenuous control and it is during that time that she meets Kolson. Kolson, oh the secrets he’s hiding.  Makes you wonder of they should ever be spoken about?? Love how he is so out of his depth, the feelings and passion he feels for Gabriella really knock him on his a$$. Made him all the more intriguing. Neither of these characters are perfect, in fact the lengths Kolson will go to free Gabriella from her pain and fear know no limits.  Yet even knowing what the cost will be he does whatever it takes to make sure Gabriella won’t live in fear. The reunion after their week apart was one of my favorite scenes! Together they are smoking.  So much chemistry and intensity- whew! Seeing Gabriella give up her tight control and just feel-beautiful. Watching Kolson allow himself to love and open up to Gabriella-stunning. Looking forward to more in their story.

This was the book I almost didn't finish. (Hang with me while I explain.) When I got to a certain part of the book I was cringing a bit...I felt a certain scene was encroaching upon my comfort zone. I got to the point I felt I needed to put it down. I decided during this time that the book wasn't for me. So then I emailed Hargrove I told her just that. But Hargrove, being the amazing author she is, talked me down from the literary edge I was standing on. She then told me what was going to happen in the book since I wouldn't be reading it. Of course, after spilling to me what was to come, I knew I had to finish it. And in the end I did finish the book and actually enjoyed it. It did have some kink, but I would skip past those parts. See? I am an old fashion girl…a prude if you will. ;) But I have mad love for Hargrove and her suspenseful stories. To me, she takes suspense to a whole new level. And that is what I love about her. She is not afraid to write what she loves and she does it well. I didn't connect well with Kolson, or Gabriella for that matter, but I still liked what they brought to the story. Both are tortured souls that have a lot of crap to wade through. But both had each other to rely on the whole way. Are they over their troubles in the end? Absolutely not. In fact, there is much more trouble on the way. I am interested in seeing where Hargrove is going to take Kolson's character. The end definitely left me intrigued. All in all, I thought FREEING HER was a good read and a great start to a series. I am eager to know what is coming next and seeing the story unfold further. 4 Stars!

I loved this book and can not wait for the next one. I am so glad that Gabby was the center of this book because I totally loved the little bit of her we got in Dirty Nights.

This was a hard book to put down. Gabby is a girl who has lived in hell for the past 16 yrs. She has no one she thinks she can turn to especially her family that has let this go on for so long. Gabby meets the man who will free her of this hold on her. He becomes her guardian, friend, and the man she falls in love with. I can't wait until the next book comes out!!! A.m. Hargrove is an AMAZING author, I love her work. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

Gabriella/ Gabby had a horrible past where her father made her feel unwanted and never believed her. Gabby’s mom was an alcoholic. Then Gabby's cousin Danny repeatedly raped Gabby and no one believed Gabby especially since Danny could be a charmer to hide who he was Gabby even attempted suicide as she felt so helpless. But she got herself together and put herself through college and medical school with the help of student loans and became a psychiatrist so she could help others by facing their demons and dark pasts which Gabby has run from her own for the past sixteen years. Gabby is drowning in debt but she still has her heart and when she isn’t working Gabby’s volunteers and keeps herself busy so she doesn’t have to deal with the trauma from her past. Then gabby got a phone call from her cousin Danny letting her know she wasn’t forgotten after all the years he had Gabby alone. Also he wants t5o renew their relationship and he didn’t forget her or how it was. Gabby falls apart inside and goes to a bar and gets drunk. Kolson notices Gabby and decides to play the white knight and give her a ride home but then Gabby passes out and Kolson doesn’t know where she lives so he takes Gabby to his home. For some reason Kolson feels protective toward Gabby But Kolson has his own past also, he had fought to get out from under his father. Kolson even started by driving a cab but worked up to owning his own business and Kolson is now rich. Kolson puts a security detail on Gabby to make sure she is safe with Danny trying to get to her. Kolson gets Gabby to talk about her past by sex favors. He introduces Gabby to his BDMS lifestyle. The more Kolson gets to know about Gabby the more he wants to know. Gabby tries to get to get Kolson to lean on her and let out his past. Eventually he does at least let her know it has to do with her dad and the dark. I had mixed feelings about this story. There were parts I really liked and there were parts I didn’t care for. I liked how the author showed hope for drug addicts rape and violent abuse victims. That is so very great! I liked that Kolson is there for Gabby even if they become involved rather quickly. I also loved the fact that Gabby chose a profession to try to help others who had darkness and deep pain in their past. But I didn’t like that Gabby so readily went into the BDSM lifestyle with Kolson after what Danny did to her especially not knowing Kolson that well. I also thought it was pretty stupid Gabby got so drunk knowing that Danny threatening her and she passes out in a stranger’s arms. There was also too many POV the absolutely worst and disgusting one I could have done without was Danny’s POV where he thinks about raping Gabriella again and and then the flashbacks when he had raped her several times. Some of the story did choke me up and also angered me how Gabriella’s family would not believe her. Some parts of this story seem to drag at times. Some things in the story just didn’t gel for me. Then worst of all it ended in a cliffhanger and I absolutely hate cliffhangers. So as I said I have mixed feelings.

This was a great love story about two damaged people helping each the overcome their pasts. Deals with heavy topics such as rape and child abuse, so be aware before purchasing. 246 pgs

The story line was good but it was really slow and drawn out in places just making it not the book for me.
