About the Author

Jane Hardy Miller was born and raised in California, where she eventually attended college and law school. Her mother, a home economics teacher, taught her to sew by hand and machine, beginning at age five. Jane made her first quilt in 1968, and for the next ten years, she made about one per year, inventing techniques as she went along. She practiced law briefly in Hawaii and California before moving to Miami in 1979, where she married, had two children, and finally took a beginning quilting class. She has been working and teaching in a local quilt shop since 1987.

This book explained French Braid Quilts well. The technical explanations helped you mentally figure out what to do, the projects were straight forward and easily done by someone new to this type of quilting. My only frustration was reading it on a Nook it was a little more time consuming to refer back to information in order to see a step again - not the fault of the author or the book, simply the constraints imposed by the device I was using.

I recently took a very simple "braid" class at my local quilt shop. Loved the appearance and wanted to do more. Saw this book on-line as I was browsing through the quilt books on the B&N site. Wondered if it was complicated. She walks you through the instructions. The projects are wonderful.I had it spiral-bound so that I can keep it open when I make the projects. It was a great investment and good fun.
