This is a clearly written and well-edited book that will be of great assistance to the surgical trainee and consultant surgeon. It is not just a reference work to consult when a difficult diagnostic problem presents itself, although for that purpose it is of inestimable value - encyclopaedic and practical. It is also an excellent companion to the studies of the trainee surgeon - encouraging him, or her, to think laterally and fostering the lost art of differential diagnosis based on the presenting clinical features. ... this is an excellent book. My one regret is that I did not have it as a guide and companion throughout my surgical career. I recommend it to trainee and established surgeon alike.
