Friction by Sandra Brown

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown comes a gripping story of family ties and forbidden attraction.

A Texas Ranger, relegated to deskwork due to past recklessness, petitions to regain custody of his five-year-old daughter, and his case is assigned to a family court judge who is as attractive as she is ambitious. When a masked gunman barges in during the custody hearing with his sights on the judge, the Ranger reacts instinctually and goes after him. But authorities apprehend the wrong man, and the real gunman remains unknown, at large, and a threat. Will this take-charge lawman jeopardize his chances of custody by going after the would-be assassin? And will this unlikely pair be able to deny the forbidden attraction building between them?

Sandra Brown has done it again! Friction is a roller-coaster ride from beginning to end. I always look forward to her books and read them entirely too fast. This one was no exception.

And comes up with another winner. I couldn't put this book down until I finished, with each new revelation I delved deeper into the mystery, and found myself more and more invested Crawford, Holly, Conrad and sweet little Georgia...a definite MUST read! Sandra Brown is a recent discovery for me, and I have happily fallen hopelessly in love with every book I've read thus far...

Not the Sandra Brown I'm used to. Have read & loved all her books. She got lazy with this one. Not fact checked, weak plot, almost unreadable. .

Sandra Brown used to be one of my go to authors, but then I realized I was falling into a rut and needed to branch out and read different books. Pity I picked this one up. Talk about predictable. Now, first, the story starts with a sad tale, a husband loses his wife in a car accident, he blames himself, he becomes a drunk and gives custody of his daughter to his inlaws. The book starts with him going to court hoping to gain custody back. Of course it isn’t that easy, and there’s a shooting in the court house and he is either reckless or brave by going after the shooter. And he saves the life of the judge who is supposed to decide his fate. I’ll be honest, read the book less than a month ago, and I can’t for the life of me remember who the killer was. I remember a few scenes, but it wasn’t a book that stuck with me. So if you’re looking for a predictable book to waste a day away with, this is it. If you’re looking for a page turner…this isn’t it.

I've read every Sandra Brown book, and I have to say that this was my favorite one by far. Crawford was my favorite male character in any of her books. Mostly Sandra's hero's are moody, dangerous, even criminal; but Crawford Hunt was different, he was so lovable, funny, tough, but he showed his soft side with daughter, and with Holly; I loved that Sandra didn't make his character as a moody jerk, she made his character as someone that everyone ( well except for one or two ) liked. I liked Holly too, she wasn't weak or afraid. I have no idea how people are giving this a low rating, I thought it was incredible, I actually want to read it again.

Being a Sandra Brown fan for many years now, I must say I was not as impressed with Friction, as I have been by some of her other romantic suspense titles; Envy and Unspeakable to name two. This was an action packed drama with some noteworthy twists and turns, but the romance and physical relationship between the hero and heroine seem to develop unbelievably fast, and I was not emotionally drawn in by their interaction with each other. The relationship that moved me the most was the one between our taciturn hero and his sweetly impish little girl. The lengths he was prepared to go to and the danger he placed himself in, to protect his daughter from emotional as well as physical harm kept me reading to the end, and made this a read well worth my time.
