Malucha, the main character, meets a Dutch diplomat and falls in love with him. Some days before their wedding her mother, suddenly dies leaving her with no family at all. Her marriage goes on though she knows her husband-to-be for only five months.
When they are detached to Chile by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs she finds out her husband is gay and discovers the underground world of homosexuality at Santiago. Discotheques and cycling clubs are the gathering points of gays living in Chile at the 80's. She does not complain nor feels outcasted from his world and friends. Her husband is a kind man. He also knows her difficult childhood and pleases and protects her in any way possible.
This is short story number 8 of "Between drizzle and hate", volume I of the trilogy 'Love Marathon'

While working at United Nations she met her husband, a Dutch diplomat. She graduated as Psychologist at the Catholic University in Santiago, Chile; pursued MA studies on international politics at Universidad de Chile. She moved to the Netherlands in 1982 and followed PhD studies on Pedagogy at Leiden University. Mother of 4 sons, she has travelled for her work in Latin America and Europe. Currently living in the Netherlands.
