From this Day Forward is the prequel to the Wedding Belles series by Lauren Layne. Leah and Jason are perfect for each other, but they are both too stubborn to talk about what went wrong. This story is short and to the point, and while you don't really get to know the characters too well just yet, this is only the prequel. So, I know we're in for more in the upcoming books, and I'm really looking forward to them. The ARC of From This Day Forward by Lauren Layne was kindly provided to me by the publisher for review. The opinions are my own.

Men. *sigh* Sometimes they are just so stuck in their own stuff that they can’t get out of their own way. It’s not just men though, as Leah soon proves with her stubborn refusal to listen to anything BUT the noise in her own head. Wedding photographer Leah McHale is solidly confident about her own skills, and booked out years in advance for them. Her friend Alexis, the owner of The Wedding Belles, THE up and coming wedding planning business in New York has offered her a career-changing wedding gig. It only comes with one small hiccup – she needs to work in tandem with another photographer, and that photographer happens to be the one man she can’t forget – Jason. Jason Rhodes, former foster kid turned Army Ranger, retired to photographer after a car bomb decimated his unit and sent him on a search for a new career. Another photographer in the rolodex at Wedding Belles, Jason is handsome, charming and sexy, and comes with a reputation. A fling between these two a year before ended with Leah’s discovery of a strange female in his house followed by radio silence leaves these two with sparks and unaddressed questions. Who’s to blame? Oh they both are – to be sure. Leah, even after hearing Jason’s stories of his childhood and service couldn’t move past her knowledge of his player past. Jason, with his own, and completely understandable, trust issues is unwilling to take a step out and risk rejection. Instead, the two have tortured themselves with memories of what was, and questions linger. If these two could only get past the hurt feelings and actually TALK to one another, and really listen, the story could end there. But, after days of off the charts sexual tension, some quiet moments of camaraderie and a SUPER steamy night – things are still unsettled. These two are so frustrating in ALL the good ways, and both need intervention that fortunately comes to break through the walls of hurt, and bring them together. A wonderful set-up for the series, with heat, heart and some clever dialogue mixes with the chaos of weddings from a new perspective. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This is a great start to the Wedding Belles series. I loved how well written all the characters were- such personality & history detailed in a novella is rare. Leah & Jason (Red & Rhodes) are fun & feisty it was entertaining to watch their give & take. Can't wait to read more about the secondary players in future books. My only complaint is the book was too short. Advanced Reader Copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

At this point, Lauren Layne is an auto-buy for me. Even if I don't put one of her titles on my Desert Isle list, I do usually find them enjoyable. This novella was no exception. Wedding photographers Leah McHale and Jason Rhodes, had a short fling prior to the start of the novella and it ended bitterly. They are hired by the wedding planning group, The Wedding Belles to photograph a VIP wedding. Leah is upset but manages to justify working with Jason, while Jason looks at the opportunity to work with Leah as a second chance at their relationship. The novella was short and sweet and serves as a quick introduction to the larger series. Jason and Leah have good chemistry and dialogue. The only drawback, aside from the short novella format is the use of the "Big Misunderstanding" trope. The lack of trust and stubbornness demonstrated by both sides made the read less somewhat less fulfilling. I would still recommend it as a read but keep your expectations a little lower if that trope bothers you.

Short, sweet and potent are the words that come to mind to describe this book. I love second chance stories and this one packs quite a lot into it. Photographer Leah McHale’s career is about to get a boost as she works with elite wedding planners, the Wedding Belles on the biggest wedding of the year that is sure to put them all in the spotlight. The only downside to this assignment is that she has to work with her ex-boyfriend, something she would prefer not to do in view of how they became exes, but she's a professional and will put the personal issues to the side. Besides, it's only for three days and she just has to avoid him for that long. Jason Rhodes made a big mistake when he let his pride get in the way and let Leah walk away a year ago, and now that they are working together he won't pass up this chance to get her back, but can they learn to trust each other? Can they learn to communicate openly, instead of jumping to conclusions about each other? The intensity of the passion and emotions between Leah and Jason will have you rooting for them to get their happy ending. The push and pull between them is just enough to keep the story interesting but not too much as to tip it over into annoying territory. I'm really not a fan of novellas because I like my stories long enough to fully develop the characters, but there is enough here to keep it interesting. Once again Ms. Layne has what promises to be a winning series on her hands and I can't wait to get started on the first book in the series. I went into this novella thinking it was written as way of introducing us to The Wedding Belles series as a whole. I expected it to tease us a bit and was really looking forward to meeting the characters. What I got was a mini standalone - and I loved it! This was my first Lauren Layne book and I've already added her other series to my TBR. Her writing style captures you in a way that makes you feel connected to her characters. I got to know them so much more in this short story than I have past characters with 300+ pages. These 100 pages really packed a punch! From This Day Forward is the story of Leah and Jason who are both successful wedding photographers in their early 30s. After having dated for a couple of months, their relationship came to an abrupt end and they haven't seen or spoken to each other in a year. Leah is offered the opportunity of working the former First Daughter's wedding, but she isn't thrilled about having to work it with Jason. I loved how strong and assertive of a female lead Leah played and I couldn't get enough of how much Jason loved to rattle her. He had an amazing ability to unnerve both her and me! Lol There's crazy chemistry between the pair and, as the reader, you will find yourself rooting hard for these two! "Nothing had burned hotter than him and Leah together. And nothing had been quite so cold as the year that followed, when Leah had iced him out of her life entirely." This was a great way to kick off The Wedding Belles series and I can't wait to read the next book, To Have and to Hold. *Huge thanks to Pocket Star and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review!*

From This Day Forward is a steamy prequel to author Lauren Layne’s The Wedding Belles series. Now that I have had a taste I can’t wait to read the next book!! This novella is a short introduction to the ladies of the Wedding Belles, an elite New York wedding planning agency. Leah McHale is an up-and-coming wedding photographer offered the assignment that can launch her career. But there is one problem she must face – working with her ex Jason Rhodes. Jason broke Leah’s heart last year and she is just now trying to move on. They both agree to work together and Leah insists on being professional. Being professional is difficult with their reunion stirring up old feelings and sizzling chemistry. This is my first book from author Lauren Layne and I loved this! The ladies of the Wedding Belles are business partners and supportive friends. I can’t wait to learn more about them. Leah and Jason’s love story was quick but it was filled with emotion. In this quick story I got the full sense of who they were but I wanted more! I hope they are featured in more books in this series. I highly recommend From This Day Forward to fans of second chance romances. This is perfect read to some romance to your day.

This sexy novella is the prequel to the Wedding Belles series, complete with its own happy ending couple romance. It's a second chance/reunion romance between Jason and Leah who were dating before the 'big misunderstanding that wrecked everything'. Now, ordinarily, those drive me crazy - a normal (non romance book couple) would talk things out and fix the problem, not walk away from a relationship. But it's the plot device here, and because it's a novella, I'm willing to overlook it. They are both tasked with working the same wedding as photographers, for the former president's daughter. It's a big deal, will be a nice boon to put on their resumes and so Leah is willing to overlook the fact that Jason broke her heart to work with him for this weekend. She doesn't expect the attraction between them to flare up so quickly once again, but it does. We get some seriously sexy times between them where they have decided to live in the moment and forget about what happened before. But Leah also begins to see that she never really gave Jason a chance to explain 'the big misunderstanding' and when it looks like it's going to rear it's ugly head again, she's determined to not back away this time. I quite enjoyed it, and meeting the other characters who will get the full length stories in the series. It's going to be a fun party! 4 stars.

Love a good story but o much could be done with it,instead really rushed short story. Don't mind paying for a great read but 3.99 for 66 pages was shameful books like this should come with a warning. So here it is ... beware short stiry with weak plot! So many other books well worth the money. Beach girl reads

Great start to a new series about wedding planners! This short novella focuses on Leah and Jason, two of their photographers who had a summer fling, but a misunderstanding tore them apart. There is lots of chemistry between them as they work a wedding together. Leah is determined to avoid Jason, but Jason is determined to get Leah back. Will they find their way back together - read this great short story and find out! I received an ARC via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. Leah was a wedding photographer and has been for ten years. Leah believes in true love it just hasn’t happened for her. Alexis/Lex was a wedding planner and asked Leah to be one of the photographers to be at the previous president’s daughters wedding. The former first daughter Kylie was marrying the son- Brent- of the richest man in NY. Brent and Kylie had been college sweethearts and were now getting married. Leah knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for her. But the other photographer was Jason and he was the only man Leah felt she couldn’t work with. Jason was the only man Leah had let close enough to break her heart and he did just that. But Leah did in fact take the job she just couldn’t pass it up even with Jason working it also. This story was one of the sweetest novella’s I have ever read. I absolutely loved it. Even though it was short it did not lack anything. It had a good plot and was well written. I felt like I was there with Jason and Leah. The characters were excellent especially Leah and Jason and all the ups and downs they went thru. I highly recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

I love Lauren Layne's books. The way she masters a great romance is truly captivating to where you can relate to the characters. Your engrossed in the story as you reveal it word by word. She has many great books out there that will occupy your summer!

4 stars From This Day Forward is a short novella introducing us to The Wedding Belles series which follows a group of female wedding planners living in New York. This was a sweet, quick, fun, emotional and heartwarming second chance love story. I enjoyed watching Jason and Leah reconnect and try to work together while still having unresolved feelings after their breakup 12 months ago. Their breakup was a case of jumping to conclusions and being too stubborn to hear the other person out. Both Leah and Jason were likable, passionate, smart people who needed to learn to trust and communicate if they were ever going to have a strong and lasting relationship. I'm a huge fan of Lauren Layne and her writing, once again she's given us strong characters, a storyline that keeps you turning the pages and a need for the following books to hurry up already.

This novella introduces Lauren Layne’s about Wedding Bells, a top wedding planning agency. They are planning the wedding of the year and ask Leah to fill in after the planned photographer is ill. She is happy to accept until she learns that she won’t be working by herself. Jason, Leah’s ex, has also agreed to shoot the wedding and neither is happy to work with the other. Will Jason be able to convince Leah to give him a second chance or Leah give him the cold shoulder… This is a great introduction into the Wedding Bells series! I flew through this story and am anxiously the next book in the series. This story featured Ms. Layne’s signature style of complex characters, steamy romance, and fun dialogue. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

This was such a cute story! Jason and Leah are wedding photographers with a past. When Leah's friend needs some help at the president's daughter's wedding, Leah knows it's a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. The only catch is that she'll have to work with Jason - her ex, who broke her heart a year ago. Jason and Leah's chemistry explodes off the page, and I loved how determined Leah was not to have anything to with Jason. His transgression definitely does appear to be one of the worst kinds in a relationship, but things (of course) aren't always what they seem. But I also equally loved Jason's very obvious intent towards Leah - Layne worked her magic with these two. Despite wanting to stay away, these two couldn't - and when they finally talked it out (finally being a relative term - this romance happens in a short period of time), I was left with happiness and hope in my heart. Great story, perfect for a quick read and a phenomenal start to a new series! Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Short, sweet, and a perfect introduction to what should be a great new series from this author. I loved this story and I'm excited to read about the "Wedding Belles" in the upcoming books. This one is a second chance story when two wedding photographers, Leah McHale and Jason Rhodes, find themselves working together at the biggest wedding of the year. Leah was pulled in by Jason's charm and devilish smile once but never again. He stole her heart and then broke it to bits so no second chances for him. He's not about to give up that easily though. He's never forgotten Leah and he plans to make up for his past mistakes! You definitely want to grab this quick read. I highly recommend it.

This is a nice introduction to Lauren Layne’s newest series The Wedding Belles. It is just a novella only about 100 pages you can probably read it in one sitting but it is so cute. Lauren Layne packs everything into this small package; romance and angst, character intros and development not to mention her classic sassy and snarky humor to make this prequel a fantastic read.  When Alexis Morgan, the powerhouse behind the Wedding Belles, asks Leah to pick up a last minute job Leah couldn’t be happier to take the job. I mean who in their right mind would turn down the job of photographer for the former first daughter’s wedding. However there is a catch, it’s such a big job Alexis had to call in another photographer to help unfortunately for Leah it’s the one person who broke her heart. Jason Rhodes and Leah McHale have a past a short one but one that burned bright and hot; it all changed when Leah believed Jason betrayed her. Now a year later Leah is still upset with Jason and Jason wants another chance. Leah thinks that maybe one last night will make everything better and all the old hurts stop. Jason has never stopped loving Leah but when it comes down to going after her he just can't bring himself to do it his past issues are messing with his mind.   Overall, this was a real cute one. It was slightly different from the other books of hers I read I think maybe just because it was so short, but no way does it away from the story. The book is definitely a great start to what is hopefully going to be another great series from Lauren Layne.

I love when new series start with a novella that way I can try out a author or series and see what I think of it. From This Day Forward is the start of Lauren Layen's The Wedding Belles. The series title sort of reminded me of that TV show, The Wedding Bells that was out in 2007. From This Day Forward is a wonderful start to this new series. I didn't want the story to end. It was very touching. Jason, oh sexy Jason, how I like you until you turned into a regular old man. He did something I thought was pretty stupid. I want to say more but won't. For me it would ruin the story somewhat so mums the word. Even though he's feel for him. He's pretty great guy that's not really sure of his feelings. You will also enjoy Leah. I really wish I got to know her even more. That's the only bad think with novella, sometimes you want more but don't get it. I'm keep my fingers crossed that you might see her and Jason in the next book so that you might feel their stories haven't ended yet. I received a ARC from NetGalley for a honest review

Fantastic start of a new series about three high powered New York City women of the Wedding Belles who run an elite wedding planning company. This a short story that delivers fabulous narrative, and an excellent story about second chance romance. The story is sweet and charming with drama, passion, love and some serious sizzling chemistry between Leah and Jason. Leah McHales career as a wedding photographer is on the rise thanks to the Wedding Belles. So when she is asked by the owner to do the former first daughter's wedding on short notice she is overjoyed to say yes, until she finds out who she will be working with. Jason Rhodes is an ex who captured Leah's heart but then left her broken. Now these two will need to work side by side. Leah is determined to not fall for his charm and killer smile again, while Jason knows that working this close with Leah is the only reason he took the job. When they are put up in adjoining rooms for the event, sparks, emotion and passion are just a breath and touch away, will Leah again succumb to Jason's sizzling charm? Because being this close is torture for them both. You will need to get this one to find out. You will also meet Alexis who is the owner of the elite wedding planning company and her assistant. This will steal your heart, leave you breathless and hopelessly waiting for the next story in this series. Could not put this down and neither will you. Highly Recommended! Lauren Layne has come upon an idea that absolutely hits upon one of my favorite storylines....the wedding planner! From This Day Forward is a novella prequel that gives us a brief intro to the successful ladies of the Wedding Belles. These successful, no-nonsense women create incredible events to stun celebrities and commoners alike. From This Day Forward gives us a glimpse into their world through the eyes of two of their most trusted business partners. Leah and Jason are wedding photographers and incredibly good at what they do. They're also former lovers, with unresolved feelings and a common assignment to photograph the wedding of the year. It's a wild ride to discover if they can they make it through without ripping each other apart or ripping each others' clothes off! As is common with novellas, it didn't always feel like there was enough time given to the characters or their story. I found myself wanting more. I wish there had been more time for the storylines and the characters. But, I guess it's a good thing to finish a book and still be wanting more. The good news is this novella is just a small taste of what’s to come. I'm intrigued by the world and the characters that are being created and I'm certainly ready for the first full-length story in the Wedding Belles series.....Coming soon! This was awesome! It was short and sweet and packed a punch. I loved it! Great introduction to the series. I really liked Leah and Jason. I enjoyed the story of their history and was invested from the start. Great animosity happening and so much chemistry between the two. Loved the sexual tension that was building and really loved the anticipation of them reconnecting again. I thought it was a well rounded, fast paced novella with an excellent story and writing, interesting characters, a bit of drama, emotion, and heat. Perfect combo! I liked the other characters that were introduced that were part of the Wedding Belles making me excited for what’s to come next in the series. This was my first Lauren Layne book and it will not be my last. This novella was the perfect way to be introduced to a new-to-me-author because I definitely want more. :-) Complimentary copy received for honest review.

Fans of Lauren Layne won't be disappointed by the new Wedding Belles series. Sassy heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, entertaining banter and steam are the customary elements in the author's books, and this novella has them all. A nice second-chance romance and ideal weekend read, From This Day Forward focuses on two freelance photographers who sometimes work for the Wedding Belles agency. Both Leah and Jason are summoned at the very last minute to work for the Belles in a very important, exclusive ceremony that could potentially boost their careers. The only problem is... Leah and Jason sort of hate each other after they dated a year ago and, because of a misunderstanding, they both got their hearts broken. A weekend together is going to be tough, especially since neither has stopped feeling the strong attraction for the other. Seeing as I loved The Wedding Planner movie and dreamed of being a wedding planner myself, I very much enjoyed the premise of the series, the NY setting and the wedding-related plots. Like I said, the story is a nice second-chance romance, without any major drama or angst. The chemistry between the two characters is just as high as their dislike (or pretend dislike) for each other, so the fun part in the book is reading how Leah pretends to hate the sight of Jason while having dirty thoughts about him, remembering what it was like when they were together. Jason, on the other hand, is super sweet, while he tries to win Leah's heart back with his funny comebacks and swoon-worthy attitude. Just like in all the previous books by the authors, you can expect steam - lots of it, when the two finally surrender to their feelings. Although it was just a little bit too steamy and detailed for my liking, the rest of the book made up for it with a very entertaining and captivating plot. I'm sure this series is going to be just another hit. *** I received a complimentary NetGalley copy in exchange for an honest review***

4.5 Stars As always, it seems, I enjoy what Lauren Layne writes. This was no exception. It was a novella, so not as fleshed out as the longer stories, but the chemistry between Leah and Jason was amazing. I liked both characters, and I wanted things to work out for them. And, the 2nd chance in this worked well, as they did not need the time to build up their was already there. I figured out what happened the morning they split up pretty much from the moment the author tells us about Jason's sister, the one Leah knew nothing about, it was obvious that Jason was in love a year ago and that he wasn't cheating, that there was an explantion. However, I don't think the who matters as much as how it was handled. Leah was not able to trust, she struggled with the idea of being able to trust, and she needed Jason to fight for them, to prove to her that she could trust him Jason, with his past, needed someone to choose him, even if maybe they didn't have all the details, he needed her to choose him. It took them a while, and the journey was fun, but they got there. And, I believed in them and in their HEA, which is tough for a Novella. This was the perfect prequel for the other stories to come. I can't wait for the rest of these stories! ***ARC Provided by the Publisher and NetGalley***

Lauren Layne can do no wrong. She’s a master at writing Contemporary, with an eloquent and exquisite writing-style that leaves readers falling head over heels with her novels. This novella from The Wedding Belles is a great start to the series! Don’t let the proper cover fool you. This novel is still as hot as her other novels *fans face* Jason and Leah had a summer fling and things ended with a huge misunderstanding, that only Jason knows about and still feels heart-broken over the fact that Leah didn’t stay to hear his side of the story. Now they have to work together and they are still very much attracted to one another, but still torn over what happened. This novella broke my heart! I don’t know how a novella can do much damage to my heart, but this one sure did. I teared up and wanted to hug these characters! I could feel all the emotions, from heart-break, to anger, to love… Everything was felt and from something so short! I wanted more from this couple and I know that Lauren will include them in the other books of the series, as she always does. If it’s Lauren Layne, then you know the romance is top-notch, sexy and hot to the max, yet sweet like a candy store. I was very satisfied and I enjoyed this one a lot!

Excellent introduction to the Wedding Belles! The Wedding Belles is a series about three ambitious wedding planners, so one would think we'd just get journey's to HEA for our ladies, but noooooooo, this little novella starts off this wonderful series with Leah McHale, a wedding photographer the Belles use from time to time. This story is a novella, so it is going to be short and quick. And the story line is perfect for this. Because this is a story of second chances. Our couple has already done the getting to know you part AND their history was never really resolved, so feelings are still simmering on the surface ... Back in the day, something happened (you know you have to read the book for more that that lol) and Leah McHale and Jason Rhodes stopped having a relationship. But nothing was ever talked about our resolved. Leah wouldn't have it. She cut Jason out of her life with nothing more than a bye. Jason has a lot to say. A lot to explain. And he finally gets his chance ... :) Some of you might think that things feel a bit rushed for Leah and Jason's story, but something tells me we'll be seeing them cameo in future books :) Copy provided for blog tour review
