Apparently, life doesn't end when you get married.

When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects.

Two of those preschoolers are Cassie's youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother's slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.

Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.

No, life doesn't end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

I was so excited when Christine sent me an email and asked me to review this 7th book in the Cassie Scot mysteries series! I didn't realize until I started reading it just how much I missed this storyline and all the people in it. I actually think this 7th book, Frozen, is one of the best since the first book she wrote. It has more colorful details and twists that even I had a hard time figuring out who the good guys were versus the bad ones! I have read so many paranormal, mysteries, thrillers and horror stories that most of the time I can figure out who the bad people are pretty quickly, but this one kept me on the edge and I was not disappointed. The only thing that did make me sad was when the book ended! I could have read for quite a few more hours because I was so drawn into the storyline that I didn't want it to end, so when I realized there would be an 8th book in the ending, I was jumping (in my mind) up and down knowing that Cassie Scot and Christine Amsden are back!! If you love the supernatural/paranormal type books that have down to earth good guys to cheer for and believe in, then you won't want to miss this whole series, especially this 7th edition. All I can say is that I hope Christine can get the 8th book out as fast as possible because I will definitely be there to read it.

A young couple found frozen inside a house covered with ice, when the temperature outside is fifty degrees. A large number of suicides have occurred recently. The sighting of a werewolf, or is it something else? Weird things are happening in the area and the sheriff asks Cassie and Ethan for help in solving the mystery. Yes, Cassandra (Cassie) Scot is back in Author Christine Amsden’s latest novel FROZEN, Book Seven in A Paranormal Mystery series. And I’m so happy to see her and her interesting family again. Now, Cassie and Ethan are married and have an adorable one-year-old daughter named Ana, and they’re one happy family. Or are they? Cassie’s mother has not recovered from her husband’s death and is unable to care for Cassie’s siblings that range in age from seventeen to twins two years old. Cassie feels guilty for not helping them more. And now, with the mystery of the murdered young couple, the sighting of hell hounds, and fairies her life is about to get even more complicated. The author is an expert at creating characters that seem real, with problems like normal people have: family, children, love, and just trying to survive in an often unfriendly world. Add a touch of magic and you have a story where almost anything can happen and does. FROZEN A PARANORMAL MYSTERY BOOK SEVEN is a delicious addition to the series and the perfect ending. Or is it the end? Will Cassie, Ethan and friends be back? Only the author knows. Recommended for readers who enjoy a great novel.

I hadn't realized how much I missed spending time with characters that I loved. And I absolutely loved getting to spend more time with Cassie. While I did enjoy the two spin-offs featuring her friends Madison and Kaitlin, they just weren't the same. Apparently magic is nothing without Cassie and Evan; they are the best. The story is great because not only does it take you back into this world but also lets you know what Cassie and her family have been up to since the last book. I couldn't put it down. Fans will love it.

This was a very enjoyable book! Although it is number 7 in a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, I enjoyed this one so much that I think I will go back and start at the beginning! Cassie is a newlywed, a new mother and an investigator of paranormal mysteries. Her husband, Evan, is a powerful sorcerer. When a strange mist envelopes the nearby lake and two people are found frozen to death, the Sherriff enlists Cassie's help to solve the crime. This book is full of wonderful characters with various magical powers. The story touches on troubles within relationships, both between spouses and between family members. There is addiction, disability, love, name it, you will find it here in this book. Add in several magical creatures, such as a fairy that causes despair and some hellhounds, and you have a great adventure in this book. The story moves at a fast pace, with plenty of action and dialogue. Great characters, great world building, great story. I am glad that Ms. Amsden decided to write (at least) one more book in this series! I was given the chance to read this book and chose to review it. And, I'm glad that I did!

First off I would like to say that this is in the Young Adult genre. I am still not quite sure what that means--all I know is that I have loved every single one of the books in this series. Down below, where you see all the titles--Yes--I have read every one of them!! There is just something about how Christine Amsden write that grabs me. I was really heartbroken when she originally announced that the series was ended. I was SO HAPPY when she decided to continue with Cassie Scot's life! I went in and purchased it right away!! Cassie is now married to her former nemesis--They are both very much in love and have a darling little daughter who has magical abilities of her own. Cassie still doesn't really have any but she channels from her daughter. Well actually she does--and causes quite a disaster. The magic in the younger generation is getting stronger and stronger-it is getting harder to bind their magical abilities-Cassie's Mom is totally depressed and has not been taking care of the kids she has at home-leaving it to the older ones. Cassie ultimately figures this out and brings them to her home. There are all kinds of fantasy type things--hell hounds--fairies--and between them they are literally FREEZING people and has the entire town depressed! Obviously I can't say much more--I really want you to read this series. Each can stand alone but why miss any of the story line?

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I bought my own copy of this book too! This is the 7th book in the Cassie Scot series! I highly recommend reading the series in order because you want to know the history and stuff that has happened to characters throughout the journey! I think the series is more for adults due to content and complexities of relationships. I love this series and world. It is complex, and it definitely takes a jog into the new and unknown in this book. Strange things are happening in town, and as usual Cassie is asked by the Sherriff to help. Cassie has missed some things about her family, but now she is noticing amidst all the chaos of the trouble that has found its way to the lake. Her daughter Ana is adorable and a force to be reckoned with. Cassie is having a lot of trouble with self-doubt, and it is starting to affect all of her relationships. I love that the series isn’t over and that new things are happening! I can’t wait to see what happens next to all of these characters because I’m very intrigued! I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves mystery and intrigue with their magical users and creatures that go with it!
