Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Rosa Roberts
In this six part "Earth in Action" book series, wildfires are examined in a simplistic but straightforward manner. The definition of a wildfire, causes of wildfires, safety, and fighting wildfires are presented within the 21 pages. The top to bottom English and Spanish text on the left hand pages and accompanying color photographs make it effortless for readers or learners of either language. The four chapter subheadings flow from page to page with the controlled English and Spanish vocabulary. This series includes a note to parents and teachers about the series supporting the national science standards related to Earth science. This book would make a suitable addition to a bilingual classroom or school library collection to enhance the elementary science curriculum. A table of contents, glossary, Internet sites, and index are included in the pages. The oversize book dimensions ease the reader with all the facts pertaining to wildfires and the devastation in the aftermath. Reviewer: Rosa Roberts
