Excerpt from Prologue:

Manx knew she was watching him. The gentle breeze that blew across the deck and sent her erotic scent wafting down toward the lake confirmed it. He stretched upward with his head thrown back, inhaling deeply as he felt his body respond. Within moments, her scent intensified; she was not only aroused, but, judging from the strength of her enticing aroma, she was also naked; there was nothing between them but the cool night air. His mind took that image and savored it—her soft breasts, her hard nipples—and even across the distance that separated them, he could sense the wet heat between her thighs, could almost hear her body calling out to him, and his cock turned to stone.

He closed his eyes and imagined her coming to him, her touch gentle on his skin, her fingers teasing him to a feverish pitch. She was the most intoxicating female he had ever encountered, and he knew that soon, he would mate with her. But for now, he held back, sensing her shyness and knowing just how tenuous his own existence was. He might be captured at any moment and taken from her, though it was easy to ignore that fact when his body was demanding release.

Reaching down, he touched his rigid penis, the orgasm-inducing fluid already beginning to ooze from the star-like coronal points of the head. Pleasuring oneself was almost unheard of among his kind—few Zetithian males were even capable—and though he knew that males of other species engaged in such practices regularly, he'd seldom felt the need for it until encountering her. This woman's scent was particularly potent, and she did things to him no other woman had ever done;made him reckless when he'd been so cautious in the past, made him want to risk everything for the chance to sheathe himself with her and give her joy.

For now, he could only imagine holding her in his arms. As his eyes closed again, he dreamed of her soft lips kissing his stiff shaft, her hot mouth sucking the snard from his testicles, and her entire body crashing into orgasm just from tasting it. He could almost see her deep, auburn hair shimmering in the moonlight, light that was even now caressing her skin as he longed to do himself. He didn't know the color of her eyes—hadn't been close enough yet to discover that secret—but he knew how they would gaze up at him, heavy-lidded with desire, but soft with the expression of her love.

And she would love him; he was certain of that. He'd watched her down by the lake while she created her stunning works of art. She imparted the love she felt for those creatures onto the canvas, just as she had with the image she'd painted of him. He'd felt that when he first viewed the portrait; something in the gentle brushstrokes made him feel that she had actually swept her hands over his back, down to his waist and thighs. She had somehow captured not only his image, but her feelings toward him—furtive, tentative, and definitely intrigued. His cock was slick with his fluid—fluid that he hoped would affect her just as it had affected the women of his world—and his hands tightened around his cock, pumping faster, seeming to pull him forward as though seeking her out. Turning his profile toward her, he let her see what she was doing to him, and he felt a sudden gush of his fluids at the thought of her eyes on him. In his mind, these were no longer his hands, but hers, wrapping him in a firm tunnel, squeezing him hard, tightening so that he had to push even harder to slide through them.

He felt his balls tighten and his breathing grew coarse and ragged as he began purring—whether she could hear him or not. Widening his stance, he let his head fall back, his long, black curls tickling his backside the way hers would as she passed behind him. He wanted to know the feel of her, the taste of her. He knew her eyes were on him, their heated gaze exploring his body—and, knowing that he didn't need to be secretive any longer, he was no longer silent, letting his grunts of effort be as loud as they needed to be, letting her know what she was doing to him.

At last he felt it: the unmistakable signal of impending climax. With an accompanying roar that echoed across the still lake, his balls repeatedly squeezed out his snard in long, powerful arcs. He imagined it hitting her succulent breasts, her beautiful face, and her softly parted lips, and as she tasted it, he could almost see her expression of joy.

As he took in a deep, cleansing breath, he smiled. She had seen him, and he could smell her climax even from where he stood—could even hear her soft sighs of ecstasy. She would be his mate. It was only a matter of time.

Following the destruction of his planet by the Nedwuts, Zetithian warrior Manxarkodrath Panteris escaped captivity and manages to make it to the jungle of Barada Seven where he hides from the local Baradan populace. His only sentient friend is elderly amphibian Zef the Eltran who lives alone in the nearby lake having been exiled by his people because he rejected the advances of a female. London art gallery owner Ralph arranges a special vacation for his top selling artsy, galaxy renowned nature painter Drusilla Chevrault on Barada Seven. Manx is stunned by his desire to make love to the Terran. Although he knows he has to remain concealed as the Nedwut bounty hunters might find him, he masturbates just dreaming of her even without fully smelling her. To her shock Drusilla has the greatest orgasm of her life when she masturbates too. As Zef plays matchmaker, Manx and Drusilla meet and fall in love, but two groups are coming for him now that he has surfaced. The latest Cat-Star Chronicles erotic science fiction romance is a terrific tale that sets the scenario up quite beautifully before the lead pair couples so that fans will believe they are visiting a different planet in the galaxy. The story line is fast-paced from the moment Drusilla arrives as the first Terran tourist on Barada Seven and never slows down until the final climax (albeit there are several climaxes of a sexual encounter also). Fans will enjoy the fifth Zetithian entry (see OUTCAST, SLAVE, WARRIOR, and ROGUE) even with the pair's sexual activity and the suspense coming fairly late as Cheryl Brooks provides a strong tale in space. If only these guys really did exist... I would love to meet one... or take one home with me. But enough about how much I love her story line... this was a nice Saturday read. There was nothing too complicated about this story. As usual, there was some resistance to the characters coming together but in the end love always wins... or atleast you want it too! :) On another note, can I just say that I love Jack and Cat! I almost wish she would write a separate series about all their adventures.

Erotic Romance or Chick Porn?Drusilla's last boyfriend turned out to be gay so when her agent sends her off to Barada Seven to get away from it all and paint the last thing she is looking for is a man. The froggy natives keep a very peaceful planet and invite offworlders to stay in a luxurious lakeside house that offers just the sort of relaxation and avian wildlife Drusilla needs. But when she meets the local potty-mouthed lake monster, an eltran named Zef, he insists that she meet his friend Manx.Manx, unlike his fellow Zetithian males, has never really been a slave. He's been on the run since the destruction of their homeworld never staying anywhere once the Nedwuts catch wind of him. Hiding out in the jungle of Barada Seven has been alright with Zef to keep him company but one whiff of the woman staying at the lake house is all he needed to decide he needed a little more. Meanwhile, Jack and the gang are searching not only for other Zetithians still rumored to be alive and in hiding but also for the source of the enormous bounty set on their heads. And when a pack of Nedwuts set their sights on Barada Seven and the newly coupled Manx and Drusilla you can bet Jack and company aren't going to let them get away with murder. If you're looking for a more stand-alone Cat Star book I kind of think this one would be it. While the overall series plot about the bounty on Zethitians is finally starting to unravel some in this one I felt like there was some lacking in flow from the other books to this one. For one, Manx wasn't as well explained background wise as the other heroes in the series thus far. To be honest I thought both he and Drusilla were boring. I enjoyed the stuff going on with secondary characters and our previous heroes and heroines more than the romance between these two.As far as Brooks improving on the third person narrative I think she nailed it this time! The flow from perspective to perspective was much better this book and I think it will work well for those who don't like first person romances. Aside from not really liking the hero and heroine in this story I had one reeeeally big problem. I enjoy erotica and I enjoy romance. Romantica done right can be really good too when I'm in the mood for that kind of reading. In Warrior the dirty talk was a little edgy but primarily I liked it. Unfortunately in Fugitive the dirty talk wasn't really dialog between characters but rather in the descriptions of the sexual scenes. The wording choices and general tone reminded me of a porno script and instead of being a turn-on was a real turn-off for me. Not all readers will find it off-putting but I personally don't care for phrases like "fucking his wife's mouth" or "meaty cock" in a romance. In the end this is my least favorite in the series so far but definitely a pivotal story in the series flow so if you're following it I think it is a must read.

I¿ll start out by saying that FUGITIVE is number five in the Cat Star Chronicles by Cheryl Brooks and I have not read the first four books. That being said, I didn¿t feel too lost reading FUGITIVE. I imagine that if I had read the first four books I would have come into this book with a little bit more back-story. Some more information about the Zetithians going into the book definitely would have made the beginning of the book a little more understandable; however, as I mentioned, without this knowledge FUGITIVE wasn¿t impossible to read.FUGITIVE follows the highly sexual Manx and the unexpecting Earth woman Drusilla. Like many great romances, Manx and Drusilla find themselves in each other¿s presence out of chance. While Drusilla has travelled to Barada Seven for the beautiful scenery, Manx is a fugitive in hiding. If his presence is discovered by the Nedwuts, his life will surely meet a quick end.One thing I can say about FUGITIVE is that the romance is very present in the story.Fair warning: FUGITIVE is an adult erotic story. While the story was good and Brooks seems to have built a lovely world with fascinating characters, there were times where I felt that the story was overshadowed by the erotic additions and the language. Now, I certainly wouldn¿t call myself a prude, but there are times when curse words play a vital role in the story and times when they just get distracting. There were a few times when this aspect of the story was just distracting. Again, that¿s my personal opinion though.Like the curse words, erotic additions can certainly play a role in a story and in an erotic story they certainly play a very important role; however, there comes a time for me when the erotic additions overshadow the story. There were a few times in FUGITIVE when it just seemed like a little much. Again, remember that this is just my opinion and these distractions may not be as important to you.Overall I would probably read FUGITIVE again. I did like the story and am interested to see what else Brooks has up her sleeves.

Manx is a Zetithian warrior and a hunted man, so staying in hiding is the safest place for him to be. But when he encounters the beautiful Drusilla, he can't resist her and she too finds him just as interesting.Fugitive is a steamy, action filled ride. Ms. Brooks' world-building is impressive as well as creative. Her strong heroines and beyond sexy heroes make the read worth it. The pairing of Manx and Drusilla was seductive and enjoyable to read. If your looking for a guilty pleasure The Cat Star Chronicles will fill the bill.

Fugitive is the fifth book in Cheryl Brooks' Cat Star Chronicles. This story of Manx, a Zetithian male in hiding from bounty hunters intent in killing him for a reward, is one of the hottest books (rivaling only Rogue for intense sex scenes) in this series so far. He can't resist a painter on a sort of painting vacation. Drusilla is from Earth and is trying to recover from her most recent disaster of a relationship in a long line of disastrous attempts to find romance. This couple is a chemical inferno. They're getting off on each other before they even officially meet! When they finally do hook up, it's explosive. Add to this some interesting locals with fun personalities and you've got a book you can't put down. My life went on hold the moment I began page one, and I had it read in 24 hours. What a ride!
