Seven days aboard a luxury cruise. The perfect getaway from it all.

At least, thats what Georgia Cantwell was hoping for.

Georgia wishes she could run away from the nightmare that has consumed her lifebut she cant. With her inbox filling with menacing emails and an awful secret eating at her nerves, all she can do is try to get through her sororitys winter break cruise without anyone realizing how wrecked she is. So she really doesnt need Jace McLaren seeing through her tacked-on smile when no one else seems to notice.

Growing up with a father in jail, Jace knows from experience that if youre going through hell, theres no way out but through. He has always steered away from girls like Georgia with her ice-queen attitude, but shes in real trouble, and despite himself he pushes past her walls.

As much as Georgia tries to ignore it, Jace wont let her pretend with him. But she cant risk telling him the truth. Her past would ruin his trust, her family, her futureeverything.

But out on the open ocean, theres nowhere to hide. And when Georgias secrets come tumbling out, it might take more than Jace to save her.

Georgia signed up for a winter break cruise with her sorority sisters from Baxter University. If she would have known what was going to happen with Hunter once she told him the truth, she wouldn't have signed up. She can't afford it. But she did sign up and now she has to deal with all her friends having a great time while she tries to distance herself. Jace lets his fraternity brothers spread rumors about him while he's gone on the weekends. That's better than everyone knowing the truth. And he prefers it that way. He'd take the manwhore title over anthing. Since Georgia and Hunter broke up, Georgia was able to switch rooms with another fraternity brother. She now shares a cabin with Jace. During the cruise she tries to keep her distance from Jace but she is drawn to him. Feelings bubble up that didn't exist with Hunter. But can she trust him with her secret? Yasmin doesn't even know and she's her best friend. This was a good book. Throughout the book I was trying to guess what Georgia was hiding. I was way wrong with every thought that popped into my head. I didn't expect it. The author does a great job at keeping you guessing from one chapter to another about the big secret. Not letting you in on it until the very end. Which is how it should be. Beautifully written! I would've liked to have seen the book go a bit beyond Epilogue and delve into Geogia's issue a little more. Does her family find out about the receptionist? What happens when she tells her parents that their problems aren't hers? This book has a great potential to be longer and more involved. But since there is another book in the series, even though it's Yasmin's story, I'm hoping some of this will come out in the next book. I loved Jace's character. The manwhore who isn't really a manwhore but a great guy in disguise. Samantha on the other hand drove me nuts. The attention seeker. I knew I wouldn't like her the moment she was introduced. Hunter is a major douche canoe with a capitol D! Doesn't matter what Georgia realizes about their relationship, just a couche canoe! ***I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***

***4.5 Stars*** Warm weather, setting sail...blackmail??? This was a fun read! Just finished this morning after reading it all night. Okay,so let me just say that there wasn't much about this story that I didn't like. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. And Jace...Georgia wasn't the only one who fell for him. He was a really good guy, just misunderstood. All he needed was a chance. I loved all the characters, really. I liked Yas. She was a really good friend to Georgia, although a tad bit whiny sometimes. She annoyed me during the hot tub scene, but after I found out about Sofia, I gave her a pass. I really liked Elise, too. (Perhaps, she could get her own book, too?) The love scenes were steamy yet tasteful, and the attraction between Jace and Georgia was off the charts. The only thing that stopped from giving this book five stars was the fact that there were no declarations of love. I mean, I guess it wasn't really necessary because we know that they did indeed love each other. It was revealed not only through their inner monologues, but also through their actions. But what can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic. I just needed to hear them say it to each other. This story was very well-written, the plot was very well-paced, and it was a really quick, enjoyable read. I only wish it was longer. (Perhaps, maybe a part II for Georgia & Jace???) I would love to read more about these two...maybe find out what happens with the blackmailer, and maybe more about her parents' money situation??? I really, really liked this story, and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates a well-written story and dual POVs. Well done, Ms. Val! ***Complimentary copy given in exchange for an honest review!***

I had never heard of “New Adult Romance” as a genre until I read this book. I merely saw that it was a cruise ship romance, thought of that old program I used to watch long ago called The Love Boat and thought, why not? I found early in the book that this was a story of people from college sororities and fraternities enjoying winter break on a cruise ship. The main female character was Georgia who had recently gone through a break-up with some wealthy fraternity guy due to sharing with him a “secret” she felt he should be apprised of before they become engaged - a secret that is not revealed till much later in the book. Jace, her roommate on the cruise, is from the same fraternity as the guy she is recently broke up with. The interaction between Georgia and Jace unfolds naturally, the secret is eventually revealed, Georiga’s nerves are conquered and a resolution to solve the difficulty causing secret is found. I decided that I should probably look up “what is a new adult romance” before writing this review to make sure that the book meets the criteria. In so doing I found that this story fills the bill 100%: right age group, plenty of angst, a problem or more to overcome, romance, sexual tension, and all the rest. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Full Steam Ahead   by Valerie Chase I received an ARC for an honest review. 5 Stars Wow!!!  Where do I start??  First off let me say that Full Steam Ahead is book 1 in the Sea Swept series and this is Jace and Georgia’s  beautiful love story that will not disappoint. Book 2 With Every Breath will be Yasmin’s story (Yasmin is Georgia’s friend) and will launch sometime in Spring ’14. I can’t wait for that story!!! Full Steam Ahead sucked me in from the first page and I devoured this book in one day. It’s one of those  books that will keep you reading page after page and one that you just don’t want the story to end. I could  read more of Georgia and Jace’s love story.   A few of the things that I really love about this book is that it is a complete story with no cliffhangers and it  is written from Jace’s POV and Georgia’s POV. I just love it when a book has both POV.  I really liked the characters in the story. They are all college students spending their winter break aboard  a cruise ship.  Jace is the kind of guy that will…mmmm… melt your heart and have you falling in love.   Georgia is the kind of girl that you like and sometimes you just want to shake her so that she shares her  troubles with Jace. Yasmin is funny and is a really good friend to Georgia…she is that friend that you would  want on your side at all times. Then you have Hunter…hum… what can I say about Hunter…well let’s just  say his not good enough for Georgia. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BE ADDED TO YOUR TBR LIST!!!! This is such a sweet, sweet romance story and I love, love, loved it…I’m sure you will too. Congrats to Valerie Chase on such Great debut book!!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars Full Steam Ahead by Valerie Chase is the first book in her Sea Swept series. Georgia WAS rich and is pretending she still is. As part of a sorority it's about appearances and she doesn't want anyone to find out about her family and the reason for her lack of wealth. Jace has a dark past of his own and he sees something in Georgia that calls to him. Something beneath the wall she has up against the outside world. A book that will have you invested in the characters from the get-go. Down-to-earth and fast paced with just enough drama in all the right places to keep you reading, not wanting to put this tale down.

Georgia Cantwell has a secret, & it’s eating her alive. Afraid of judgment, her parents’ disappointment, & the consequences for what she’s done, she can barely function. Now she’s stuck on a cruise with her friends, including Hunter — the ex who dumped her when she told him the truth. No longer rooming in his luxury cabin, she’s traded her way to the cheapest, with two tiny beds & one of Hunter’s frat brothers. Not only is Jace friends with her ex, but he’s known across campus for his womanizing ways. Jace McLaren manages to fit in despite the fact that he doesn’t fit in. He’s not swimming in, & rumor says that he’s trailer trash with parents are in jail. Now he’s stuck with prim, uptight Georgia. Only he’s noticed something off about her. Her smiles seem forced, her posture tense, & her whole being weighted down by some invisible burden. He’s seen that hopeless look before, & no good ever came of it, so despite his lack of interest in the stuck-up girl, he can’t help but reach out to her. But... Everything was wonderful — until the end. There’s no cliffhanger, & everything ends on a happy note, but it’s so unrealistic. The story, while not exactly your everyday situations for most of us (rich college kids partying it up on a cruise), was pretty believable. Georgia’s anxiety & the physical toll it’s taking on her is spot on, but the overly simplistic way in which everything was resolved? Not so much. I don’t want to give anything away, & it’s still a great read, but I really can’t fathom anyone believing that a problem like Georgia’s could be wiped away so easily. The Verdict... What a fun read! I really loved Georgia’s character. & Jace…they just don’t get much hotter than him. The friendship he & Georgia struck up, the strained getting-to-know-you period was simple & subtle & wonderful. & the chemistry! Whereas I often find myself rolling my eyes at some of the crazy bedroom scenes in romances, theirs seemed perfect. The story didn’t resort to wild acrobatics, marathon sex sessions, or so-graphic-I-cringed scenarios. The build-up was great, & the way it all played out was even better. Full Steam Ahead captures the reckless fun of a college student, with the crushing anxiety when someone is waiting for the sky to crash down. While neither of the characters were, they faced their problems head-on, even if it did take them a scene or two to work things out. It would have been easy to put them through a giant blow-up & kept them apart for weeks due to stupid pride or bad communication, but that sort of contrived angst wasn’t necessary, & while Georgia & Jace definitely has some tough moments, they didn’t turn into walking, talking cliches. In fact, that is what I think I enjoyed most about the book. It didn’t follow the standard, tired formula for romance. The ex-boyfriend wasn’t an evil, selfish bastard. The best friend was wary of Jace, there was no misconstrued situation where one of them appeared to be getting involved with someone else, & there were characters Jace & Georgia had conflict with. & Georgia’s secret? It was very real & very serious, not something she needlessly built up to be bigger than it was. What resulted is a story with likeable, believable characters, really sweet romance, & a smart plot. This is the first time I’ve even heard of Victoria Chase, but you can bet I’ll be following her from now on. Full Steam
