One of the many tragedies of Katrina was that there was no room in rescue boats or shelters for pets. Residents were forced to leave their furred & feathered family members behind, to be rescued later--if they survived. Many homes bore signs alerting animal rescue teams to pets awating help.
That was the fate of Bruno, the Newfoundland; Fawn, the Chihuahua; Will, the tabby cat; and Jasmine, the Siamese. The four friends are soon joined by Ivory, a very pregnant cat; Toby, a tough dachshund mix; and Angus, a crafty Macaw parrot.
This resourceful group sturggles to survive the growing threat posed by a pair of looters. As their food supply dwindles and Ivory gives birth to her kittens, teh animals must work together to survive.
