The product details are a LIE! The book is NOT 208 pages-- it's 144 pages on my Nook-- in medium font! Also? The first ninety pages are (very bad) story, there's an eight page "afterword" that's more like a fanboy essay by Win Scott Eckert, and the rest is *advertising for other books from Titan Books!* So, yes, a complete ripoff!
This story was among the worst I've ever read. I know both the Holmes and Tarzan canon stories, and this... somewhere out there, the spirits of Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Rice Burroughs are *writhing in agony!*
I expected MUCH better from Phillip Jose Farmer, having read some of his original work, as well as his "biographies" of Tarzan and Doc Savage, and enjoyed them. This... it read like fanfiction written by a mentally deficient seventh grader who'd seen a couple of Tarzan movies or comics, and heard summaries of the characters of Holmes and Watson.
It. Was. AWFUL!
So far as I'm concerned, Titan Books owes me the $8.45 that I paid for this travesty of a "novel."
