About the Author

As the only girl on an all guys hockey team from age six through university, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys and loves to write about them. Call it kismet. Call it payback after years of locker room talk and ice rink antics, but whatever you call it, the action better be heart stopping, the magic electric, and the story wicked, good fun. After graduating with honors in psychology and working as an interior designer, she finally succumbed to her overactive imagination and returned to her first love. . .writing. She lives in Canada with her family, a fun-loving golden retriever and, when she’s not writing, she’s dreaming of magical worlds full of dragon-shifters, elite assassins, and romance that’s too hot to handle.

Bastian and Rikar are dragons appearing in the guise of humans. They are on a mission to save their race from extinction, one in which they must unite with a human to produce more half-dragon-half-human sons. However, the focus of his mission is diverted when he meets Myst, a fiery woman passionate about her medical calling to save every precious life. While she struggles to save the life of a mother and child, the scent of death and life reaches both dragons. They rush to the scene where Myst is able to save the child but not the mother. Another danger looms, however, Bastian besotted with this woman and putting off the deed he knows he must accomplish and instead taking Myst and the baby to safety! Other dragons under the leadership of Ivar do display that shred of compassion and care. For Ivar is in charge of constructing a lab where his plans will develop to threaten the existence of all humanity. Thus begins the race to survival for every character in this fast-paced thriller story. These are dragons that possess the power to freeze or burn whatever thwarts their purposes, a mystery humans don't understand but are attempting to figure out and conquer. The feelings grow between Myst and Bastian, in between numerous battles involving Ivar and his cronies and humans. Many lives are lost, but the fire between Myst and Bastian grows and grows and grows until it is banked in their fiery union, where the unexpected happens. Sex with a dragon is also consuming, satisfying both but also increasing the desire for more to an almost unbearable crescendo! How will it all be resolved or ended? Coreene Callahan has written a fantasy novel sure to thrill lovers of this genre, as well as those who love a fierce, lusty romance story!

Contemporary, Paranormal Myst Munroe is a nurse that cares about her patients. When one of them is having some health problems Myst goes out to check on her patient and ends up in more trouble and dealing with a world she never dreamt existed. Now Myst is going to have to find a way of dealing with this new world and figure out if her old live even exists anymore. Of course meeting Bastian is making her wonder if she even wants to go back to her old life. Bastian has been told that it is time for him to find a mate and sire a son. Bastian also knows for that to happen the human woman will die giving birth. Bastian also knows that being the leader of the Nightfuries, a form of dragon shape shifters that are sworn to protect the humans from the Razorbacks, a form of dragons that are determined to destroy all humans; he has a duty to his men to do what is necessary to make sure their line does not die out. Bastian would find it easier to sire a son if he hadn’t met Myst and formed an instant connection with her. Now she is in his care and he has to find a way to make sure no harm comes to her and also find a way to have the son he needs. Myst has found herself in the middle of a war between the two sides of dragons with her heart firmly in the hands of Bastian but she isn’t sure that is what is best for her. Bastian has never had a problem with putting honor and duty first before but ever since he set eyes on Myst he is finding it harder to put anything before Myst. She is becoming everything to him but what will the mean when it comes time for him to have a son? This is an exceptional story that will have the reader extremely reluctant to put down. The characters are very well written and will grab the reader by the throat and won’t let go. With all the action in this book it moves forward very quickly and keeps the reader engaged to the point they won’t want to put it down until the very end and even then they will hate for the book to end. If you like very alpha males that are very possessive of their mates this is one you have to read. The men in this one are over the top and extremely drool worthy. This one will also have the reader counting down the time until the next book comes out. This is one series you shouldn’t miss.

Nurse practitioner, Myst Munroe is having a bad day and it is about to get worse. Myst goes to check on pregnant patient Caroline and finds her bleeding out on the floor. She begs Myst to save the child. 911 says it will take 30 minutes for an ambulance so she performs an emergency c-section and saves the child. Then her world gets really interesting. Dragon shifters are at war. On the one hand are the Nightfury (led by Bastian) who wish to coexist peacefully with humans and then there are the rogue Razorbacks (led by Ivar) who think that humans are pests only good for breeding and eating and the rest should die. Bastian takes Myst and the baby into custody while saving her from the Razorbacks. Back at the lair we meet several hunky alpha dragons and a beta elf (who I want for my very own). We learn about their world and Bastian and Myst fall in love. But there are questions and stories untold so this will be an interesting series. I liked that Myst was a strong woman who didn’t let the alpha male lie to her, and owned when she was wrong. As I was reading this I kept thinking of Lara Adrian’s Breed series. This is a lot like it only with dragon-shifters. It has room to grow and I shall join the ride.

Fury of Fire by Coreene CallahanIf you are a fan of the author J. R. Ward, you are either going to love reading a book so similar to hers or hate the fact that it seems so similar to the Brotherhood series. Hopefully you won¿t get bogged down in the details like I did. . The writing is very good but the similarities were just too strong for me to personally like. I will endorse this novel to anyone who hasn¿t read J.R.¿s books since you won¿t have the problems I did and you might find this to be a fresh approach to fantasy/romance.The Nightfury clan of half-dragons is sworn to protect the humans from the evil half-dragon such as the rogue evil Razorback¿s. The Nightfury¿s need their leader to have a son to keep the powerful line going. Unfortunately, for human women (there is no such thing as a female Dragon¿at least so far) they all die in childbirth. Bastian meets Myst who has just helped a dying woman deliver a half-dragon baby. Myst is very powerful in that she can recharge the dragons (feed them) without sex, and Bastian wants her¿already is thinking of her as his. To protect her he takes her to the dragon¿s lair and things get interesting from there. . Now some of the points I make and similarities most likely will be found in almost any steamy fantasy novel. Snark/sarcasm ¿both series. This is an oddity in this book since everyone uses the same type of sarcasm the narrative is somewhat interchangeable. If you aren¿t sure who is talking or thinking to themselves, it could be almost any of the characters.Ultra modern language/slang with a lot of OMG¿s thrown in - bothEvil vs good ¿now this is where this novel differs: the evil ones are of the same species, unlike the Brotherhood novels. ¿ of course the Evil Razorback clan is sworn to kill the human race and to do so must get rid of the good guys, the Nightfury¿s.Fawning butler ¿ both Medical woman taken against her will helping injured brethren ¿ bothWoman being mate of head of the good guys (Bastian/Nightfury Clan)Luxurious accommodations ¿bothGoing fighting on rotation ¿bothI can actually come up with more similarities but I will not. I was not happy reading this novel since most of my time was spent comparing the two instead of just being able to lose myself in the writing.

I you follow my blog or reviews at all you know that I have a serious weakness for dragons. I am fascinated by them and will read pretty much anything that involves them. I am also a member of the Amazon Vine program and when scrolling though the newsletter one day I saw this book. There was no cover, but the summary sounded awesome. Plus, it had my favorite paranormal creatures, that¿s right, dragons! So I immediately requested it and could not wait to dive into the world Coreene created. In Fury of Fire we get a great overview of the mythology, but are not bogged down by details. In some first books of a series, the author can take a lot of time to world build and it drags down the pace of the novel. In this book, Coreene gives us just enough information so we know what is going on and understand how the world works, but the plot continues to move forward. As for the paranormal elements, the dragon-shifters are men who can transform from human to dragon as they please. They can materialize clothing, have some level of magic and the only one I had not seen before was their sensitivity to light. That little attribute took me by surprise, but it did make it interesting when people needed help during the day and the dragons were stuck indoors. I would be interested to see where this sensitivity came from in the first place, but maybe Coreene will cover that more in future installments.Bastian is the leader of the Nightfury¿s and because of this he feels he must help carry on the dragon species. He needs to find a woman in order to do this, the only problem is no woman ever survives birthing a dragon child. His guilt over finding a woman just to lose her has him hesitating, but the second he sees Myst he knows he is in trouble. Myst is a nurse practitioner who feels the same pull toward Bastian when she meets him. She is human, but there is a lot more going on with her than what we see on the surface. She is an enigma to us and to Bastian for quite a while and I am interested to learn more about her. We do get quite a few answers about her in Fury of Fire, but there are some questions still left unanswered at the end that I am hoping will be looked into more in the next book. Bastian and Myst however, were great together. Coreene took the time to let us get to know them and grow attached to them. I was invested in these two characters and really wanted to see things work out for them. They have quite a few obstacles in their way, but I enjoyed watching them work through them together. We also meet many interesting secondary characters in the ranks of the Nightfury¿s. My personal favorite was Bastian¿s best friend Rikar. He is Bastian¿s right hand man and has no idea how Bastian has fallen for Myst so quickly. He thinks humans are just good for letting off a little steam with a one night stand, but he too meets someone later in the book that spins his world off its axis. I am so glad that he will be the focus of the next book because I loved getting little snippets of what was going on in his head and want to see more. There are other dragons that are not part of the Nightfury rank that are mentioned, but we do not get to explore them in detail. It does however, peak my interest and gives Coreene plenty of opportunity to expand this series. As for the action, Fury of Fire did not have a dull moment in it! Since the rivalry between the Nightfury¿s and the Razorbacks has been going strong for quite some time, the two groups come together multiple times throughout the novel. Thankfully, Coreene did not add in any extra fluff or erroneous details just to fill pages. Every word drove the plot moving forward and I appreciated her getting straight to the point. It kept the fight scenes exciting because they were not bogged down with unnecessary descriptions of the setting. She did use description when needed, but it was just the right amount. Coreene was creative with the action and each battle was different and invigorating. The romantic s

The Nightfuries are a group of half dragons dedicated to protecting humans while keeping their species a secret. The biggest threat to the humans are the Razorbacks, another group of half dragons lead by Ivar, a scientist who sees humans as nothing but food¿the dragons need to feed on the energy of a human¿and has a plan to wipe most of them out. The race had been cursed long ago to only have males, so to procreate they must mate with a female human. Unfortunately the females always die when giving birth. Bastian, the Commander of the Nightfuries, has decided that as much as he doesn¿t want to hurt someone, he needs to father a son to start building up their numbers.Myst is a nurse practitioner who carries a strong flow of energy. She comes to Bastian¿s attention when his group intercepts an emergency call from Myst to 911 regarding a young woman they know of who is carrying a dragon¿s child and dying. Myst is able to save the child. Bastian arrives just before the opposing side and while in human form his presence felt comforting, seeing him and his friend change into dragons is rather upsetting, as is being taken captive. The story is told from a number of points of view. Bastien, Myst, Rikar who is Bastien¿s best friend, Detective Angela Keen and Ivar, the head bad guy. Splitting it up that way works well especially since Rikar and Angela are the focus of the next book. The story on the whole is pretty good, although there are a number of things that don¿t make sense and I¿m hoping an explanation is provided in the next two books. When I started reading this story I immediately felt like I was reading the world building of three other authors' series with J R Ward's standing out much more than the others. As a matter of fact it felt like at one point that I was reading a softer version (in how the characters speak) of hers just swapping out the different species and circumstances. I especially found it distracting around the middle of the book each time something new was described that matched the world and set-up she built.Thankfully this distraction didn't last for the entire book and I was able to enjoy the story enough that I will be looking for the next book when it comes out in June. Title: Fury Of Fire Author: Coreene Callahan Publisher: Montlake Romance Series: Dragonfury Series Book 1 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Fury Of Fire" by Coreene Callahan My Thoughts.... Did I enjoy this fantasy romance read? Yes, I enjoyed these supernational creatures...these dragons [shifters] and yes it was about the good dragons vs. the bad dragons. The story kept my attention featuring Bastion [dragon] and Myst [Bellmia-nurse] who had quite a love story. I enjoyed how they met and that feeling that was there from the start. Let me also mention the hot steamy sex that went on between these two[Bastion & Myst"] was simply off the chart well written. I loved how this author brings out the energy at Myst yielded with her Meridian energy that flowed between her and Bastion throughout the story which was of great importance to these dragons [Shifters]. This was of great importance to the read in that "the dragons gain power and curb their hunger from energy produced from females that are with." "With the dragons who were facing extinction fewer dragons were being born and only conceived with a human female that has dragon DNA and are the males dragon mate and the horrible thing of it all the human females were not able to survive childbirth." Now, to understand it all you will have to pick up this author's 'Fury Of Fire' to get the full story that will definitely keep your attention especially if you like dragons reads as you will be turning the pages to see what is coming next...and yes believe me a lots will be coming! Be ready for some bad dragons fights, kidnapped, revenge, caves, battles, sexy alpha males and romance giving the readers quite a bit of fast paced action with some outstanding descriptions as the story flowed so very well. The characters are simply well developed, portrayed and believable as you are really in for a good read with the Nightfuries [Bastion] and the Razorbacks [Ivar] dragons [Shifters] going after each other. Why and who will come out of this? Will the humans [Mac and Angela] the good cops be able to able to make sense of it all with death happening all around them? By the end of the read one will definitely get a good take on the 'Dragonkind or what is called the Dragon Shifters' and only leaving the reader wanting more.

I was the first time I read a book about dragon shifters and I enjoyed it, yes. The second half of the book wasn't as thrilling and exciting as the first one, it missed some more action, but overall it was a good read and, most important, I want to read the next books! Bastian is a fierce dragon, but also a good man. His protectiveness toward Myst and the baby was sweet. The secondary characters are interesting, each of the dragons has a special appeal and all are different and I want to know more about them. Forge, in the enemy's band, was also an interesting guy and made me guess he's more than just a bad guy. I'm curious about him.

I am in love!!! myst is the most exceptional lead female I have read about in years. the way the story unfolds is just right. dragon shifters that can only have children with high energy females. as great as that sounds each female dies in the process of giving birth due to the differences between them and their males. Bastian the nightfury commander finds Myst as she tries to save the life of her patient and her unborn child. after finding her Bastian must woe her to him before time runs out and he takes her to breed his own heir. love blossoms under the extraordinary circumstances that befall the two. this is the beginning of the Dragonfury series and it just gets better from here!

Reviewed by Crystal Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book I’ve seen different reviews for Fury of Fire, some good and some bad. In my opinion I really enjoyed it. Fury of Fire was a really easy book to get into. I liked how the author described each one of her characters. Even though, this is the first book in the Dragonfury series, we get a teaser of the characters that will be in the next books. We get to see what characters will probably end up with each other. Bastian is the leader in the Dragonfury clan. He’s got a lot of responsibility on his dragon scales. They’re in a war with the Razorback clan and because of this their numbers are going down. It’s up to him to find a human woman to mate and have a son. The only way to do this is when the Meridian axis realign, which is in five days. Bastian feels that he needs to be the first to do this since he’s the leader. He is a very strong take care of everything personality. He never shows weakness and is always there for his clan. Myst Monroe is a nurse practitioner. She really takes her job seriously. She has a very soft heart and tries to help everyone. She goes out of her way to make sure that everyone gets taken care of. She’s a very strong and independent woman. This is what will put her in danger and change her life forever. The way they meet is because of Myst job and her going out of her way to help her patients. Caroline is a young woman who is pregnant and has a rare blood disease. The problem is that Caroline hasn’t been to her appointments so Myst decides to make a home visit. Bastian comes on the scene because Caroline is pregnant with a half-dragon. It’s his job to make sure the baby survives. Now when they meet nothing goes the way they had planned. Myst has a lot of white power that Bastian needs to survive and he finds out that Myst is his mate. Myst doesn’t want anything to do with him because she finds out his secret. I loved how the author brought out each one of their personalities and making them second guess everything that each one had been told. Bastian finds out that maybe honor and putting his clan first isn’t what he always needs to do. Myst finds out that maybe her job isn’t what she should put first. Bastian has to decide if he can give up Myst’s life to have the child that he needs to make sure his clan survives. Fury of Fire is a story of not all things are what they seem. You have to make decisions. Not all will be good and how do you know if it’s the right one. I really can’t wait to read the next book. So happy reading everyone. I will warn you that there’s some bad language and some pretty hot sex scenes. Favorite Quote: “Master Bastian warned me you are very clever.”

Dragon Shifter Fun!  3.5 Stars  I am excited to start this new series by a new to me writer! I love dragons shifters and Callahan creates a interesting dragons. It is fun to see what different talents each dragon male will have.  There is a lot of humorous internal thoughts by the heroine that make this a good read!  The heroine in this book is smart and little bit quirky. Her reaction to all the things that happen is realistic. The hero is a ton of dragon shifter  hotness with the weight of his clan on his shoulders.  The action is fast paced and engaging as is the love story.  They have a good dynamic.  I am looking forward to seeing the other characters get their own stories. I will be reading the rest of the series and already have the next one qued up.  What kept this book from being excellent for me is a lack of rerereadablity that comes from scene, moments, and dialogue that are so special of fun I want to revisit them again and again. Some of the issue here are character development. I can tell this is a series where the  characters will round out as the books roll out. This will work over time but leaves this book a bit thin.  There is also a basic premise of the  book that some dragon knowledge has been lost that is less than believable.  I don't really need there to be the crazed villain but that is just  me.  I agree that there are lots of parts that are JR Ward like but with Dragons. Still, the book is enjoyable overall and I recommend it.
