Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Venom secretly longed for a relationship. Seeing his brothers in arms had opened up his eyes to what he needs. Someone he can call his own. But being a toxic dragon that he is, he never thought it was possible…until the night he goes AWOL. Pushed into desperate time, Evelyn Foxe has to find a way for quick money. But what does a very smart, top notch, out-of-luck accountant do? Yup, you guessed it. Go and work with the city’s top Madame. She has no choice. A lady does what she has to do right? I was a bit torn on Evelyn’s choice of work, but I get it. Desperate times and all that. But Ms. Callahan did well with how her life had turned out despite their awkward introduction with Ven. Evelyn and Venom’s story came a little fast but it was sweet.  Venom…was very sweet. If you didn’t already know, the dragonkind has to have a certain connection with female for them to ever survive. The connection with their mate is even stronger, even more special and very delicate. Both parties would have to equally love each other for any relationship to work. Some of brothers tactic was to take and woo. But Ven? Oh no, he wanted to woo Evelyn. Given the circumstances of danger, kidnapping first might have been the better choice, but Venom was a romantic, and I love that about him. One of the best thing about this series is the back story. I love the endless fight between the Nightfuries and the Razorbacks. There is always action packed and nail biting scenes between the two. It always involves flying dragons with each using their powers and talents. It’s pretty epic! I also enjoy seeing the rest of the crew. Of course, there’s the funny banters and awesome camaraderie. Ivar, one of the Razorbacks surprised me in this installment. This guy is THE head of his crew and totally ruthless. But in this book, he softened up just a tad. Coreene had put in a seed of compassion in his character. I’m not sure what Ms. Callahan has planned for him but I’m certainly intrigued. Though, I don’t think he has caused his last destruction in this series. Overall, Fury of Obsession was an enjoyable read. *ARC provided by publisher

This is the fifth book in the Dragon Fury series. I absolutely loved it! First off, I would like to say that I love the cover! Venom's eyes! *Sigh!* Venom is a fantastic character. I have enjoyed getting to know this particular dragon. He has a multitude of layers that get peeled back and revealed as the story progresses. This made me even more intrigued with him, as he has a few secrets that I never would have guessed, and a vulnerability that surprised me, as he struck me as a very confident man who is not afraid of much. That is, until he meets Evelyn Foxe. Evelyn (Evie) Foxe is also a wonderful character. I liked her very much. She is normally an emotionally strong woman, who usually knows what she wants and goes for it, but now she's desperate. She is a forensic accountant, who has had the rug pulled out from under her feet and is struggling to find a job, and keep a Russian mobster off her back. Can Venom be her ticket out of the situation she finds herself in? Or will she be in more danger? I have been eagerly waiting for the release of this book for some time. It was well worth the wait! I started to listen to the story and was quickly hooked. I have become totally addicted to this series! The story, in a way, continues on from Fury of Desire. There is a definite story arc beginning to appear and gather pace, as this story is told through several points of view and not just Venom's and Evie's. All of the dragons from the Night Fury pack are worried about Gage and Hadar, who have gone missing in Prague. These two dragons have not featured much in the story up until now, but as the story arc opens up and the reader gets to see what is happening in Prague, they suddenly become extremely important. There's some seriously sick things happening in that part of the world, and Gage and Hadar find themselves in serious danger. I know it sounds a bit strange, but I really enjoyed their story, even though it's not very nice. There is lots of violence and danger, but these two are a force to be reckoned with. I must admit that Nian is not too shabby himself! Back in Seattle, Ivar is waiting for results on his experiment, but even he is shocked at the results. Venom and Evie's romance is fraught with excitement and danger. However, I felt their story, although integral to the plot, got a little sidelined due to the larger story arc. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you compare the first story to this one, they have less page time together than Bastian and Myst. But, it makes a nice change to have an interracial coupling. I haven't read many books where this occurs, and it brings a different dimension to the story. It also makes me wonder about Sloan's story. Will we ever get to read it one day? I hope so. I reached the end of the story and though it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it made me look forward to reading/listening to the next book in the series as soon as possible. I just hope I don't have to wait as long for it though! Coreene Callahan has written another fantastic paranormal romance. She is fast becoming one of my favourite authors to read. Her books are fast paced, exciting and extremely addictive! I love her writing style and the flow is absolutely wonderful! Due to the use of bad language and the explicit sexual scenes, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances or books with sexy dragon shifters! - Lynn Worton

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 REVIEW:  Venom is the one Dragonfury warrior that never thought he would ever find his mate.  Yet a night of going AWOL Venom has done just that.  Despite everything thing that make him up he finally found her.  But being the hopeless romantic he is, Venom wants to woo Evelyn the way a human would.  But that means letting her walk away.      By walking away, Evelyn just went from the fry pan into the fire.      Evelyn Foxe has not been have a good couple of months.  First she get’s fired, then she finds out that mob is after her because of her mother, and lastly she finds herself doing something she never would have ever thought she would have to do.    But when her first John walks through the door there is something, something very strange about this man.  Yet, she is drawn to him.   But she must walk away.   Because if she doesn’t walk away right now you may never want to leave him ever.   Venom!!!! Yay!!!  Finally Venom get’s his story.    I enjoyed Venom story, although I was a little sad that Venom had to share so much of his story with Ivar and Gage.  These storylines are important to the series, but I really wanted more of Venom.  There were also a few questions and topics that I felt were left unresolved.  I am hoping that we will get some closure on these in the next book.  Overall, I loved Venom’s story.   We got a new narrator for Fury of Obsession.  This is the first time that I have listened to Cole Ferguson.  I will say that at first I was a little confused and sad, mostly because I was use to the old narrator.  But after a little bit and a few chapters I started to enjoy Cole.  I will say that I think he did Venom perfectly *fans self*.  I mean come on Venom is danger wrapped in yummy.    I am looking forward to the next book in this series and I hope that Cole will continue as the narrator.   Question is who is next?    Disclaimer:  I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley & Montlake Romance  in exchange for an honest review. I also purchases a copy from Audible.  This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Can a toxic dragon find true love? Luckily, Venom has a soul mate out there somewhere waiting for him and this is his story in Fury of Obsession. Feeling extremely alone and isolated after his partner found his mate, Venom heads to a club to find temporary solace in a woman's arms.  Evelyn Foxe's life has hit rock bottom. Her mother's gambling habits has put in the sights of a loan shark with no chance of her ever being able to pay back the debt. When all options fail, she takes drastic measure that shake her to her very moral core. When Evelyn is about to make the hardest choice of her life, Venom walks through the door and instantly knows she is his mate. Battles in the sky, contagions ravaging Evelyn's home town and a strong alpha male giving the woman control to find her place in his life...Fury of Obsession was a great installment in the Dragonfury series. The highly descriptive story telling pulls you into the plot and lets you feel like you can see a dragon transform before your eyes. I did feel this story ended rather abruptly leaving a few plot directions open for further exploration in later installments, I hope... I'm wondering were this story is heading next and what is going on with Ivar.

*4.5 Stars* Dragon-warrior Venom is alone in the midst of all his coupled-up brothers. His loneliness is exacerbated by the fact that his longing for a mate of his own cannot be fulfilled because, due to his genetic makeup he is toxic (literally) and cannot spend a lot of time with a female without making her sick or even causing her death. He is reduced to short-term interludes that only intensify his longing for a mate. Until he encounters Evelyn Foxe. Evelyn is the perfect fit for Venom but she is weighed down by her current circumstances -out of a job and unable to get another; she's on the hook with the Russian mob, forced to assume her late mother's gambling debts and at her wits end, until Venom offers her a lifeline. Fury of Obsession is my introduction to the Dragonfury series and to Coreene Callahan's work, but I am completely blown away by her writing. The story is so much more than what the blurb indicates. The title is apt because the story does not just revolve around Venom's obsession with finding his mate, but also the obsession shared by Ivar ( and the Razorbacks) and Rodine in destroying the Nightfuries. I love this story because I was completely drawn into the world Ms. Callahan has created and even though I started at the end, there was enough of a back-story to fill in the blanks. The writing is top-notch and engaging,  the plot is multi-layered and the characters are well-developed. Fury of Obsession is a top pick for me because Ms. Callahan has skillfully woven a tale that satisfies even as it heightens anticipation for the next in the series. It is the perfect blend of romance, action and suspense. *I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.*

Taking place in both Seattle, with the Nightfury pack and the Czeck Republic, with Haider and Gage, Fury of Obsession is a thrilling reading. In Seattle, Ivar, the leader o the Razorback, enemies to the Nightfuries, unleashes a terrible virus in a small town; when the virus makes its first victims, the Nighfuries will do their best to stop it. At the same time, Venom, Wick's best friend wth whom he shares a disturbing past of violence and ugliness, meets Evie and understand she's the female he's looking for, the only one that can touch him and not getting sick from his poisonous skin. Their is a story of sharing the darkest secrets from their lives and starting a new chapter. It was a delight to read about them. I confess the chapters happening in the Czeck Republic, with Gage and Haider, took most of my attention. Although I was anxious to read about another Nightfury member falling in love, I found myself riveted to the Metallics, who were kidnapped by the (another) enemy, a powerful one. Once again, the end left me on edge and kind of desperate to read the next one.

This is a great continuation of the Fury series. Coreene Callahan has created an exquisite world of dragons, their enemies and their mates. I think Venom is my favorite (so far). He's strong, loyal and lonely. Lonely because his greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. It's a wonderful story and you can't help but cheer for Venom! You can't go wrong with a book by Coreene Callahan!

Awesome! This was my first Coreene Callahan book, and I loved it! I don't usually like to start a new series without starting from the beginning. Sometimes things don't make sense, or they are confusing, but that was not a problem with this book. It was very interesting and enthralling. It is all written so well. Venom is one of my all-time favorite characters. He is so wonderfully complex. It is easy to see a lot of thought and feelings had to go into writing his character. I loved that he was confident one minute, but worried and doubtful the next. He would be dangerous and volatile, but then sensitive and loyal. Everything about him blended perfectly to make a fascinating character. Evie was the perfect piece to his puzzle. Their story is definitely one you don't want to miss. There is a lot of action. The interaction between all the dragons is a lot of fun too. I really enjoy the witty and sarcastic remarks, as well as the devotion that is very evident between them. The villains were another one of my favorite parts of the book. Ivar kind of has me torn about how I feel about him. He does bad things, but I feel bad for him. My indecision, as far as he is concerned, really makes this book stand out for me. Amazing characters!!! I am definitely going to check out the other books in the series that I have missed. You should too! I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have been reading this series since the very beginning, Fury of Fire back in February 2012. Back then I fell in love with this brand new author with her fascinating new world of dragons who lived in one of my favorite cities, Seattle.   I was so hooked. So here I am, three years later, still hooked and reading book five.  Venom!  A Nightfury warrior like the rest of his brothers.  Well, maybe not like the rest.  They each, after all, have their own genetics and skill sets.  Venom?  He, like the blurb tells you, is totally toxic – literally.  Makes life rather lonely sometimes.  I mean, how would you feel if you couldn’t sleep with someone because touching you, for more than a few minutes, would kill them?  Sadness.  He has made the best of a bad situation by devoting his life to his dragon brothers, to include his best friend Wick. But Wick found his mate in book four, Fury of Desire, so doesn’t have the time and/or desire to spend as much time with Venom anymore.  And really, who can blame him?  J.J. is much prettier than Venom is and not near as toxic.  All Venom wants is a little company.  Maybe of the female type.  Someone to hold him for a while.  Imagine his surprise when he actually finds a mate tuned to his special needs. Evelyn has had a really rough few months.  Scandal has cost her her livelihood.  Her mother died and left her with outrageous debt.  She has the Russian mob hounding her.  She is at the end of her rope and doesn’t know where to turn.  But she needs to raise cold, hard cash now.  Selling her body is just about all she has left.  When her first “john” turns out to be Venom, life throws a whole new set of issues at the intrepid high energy female.   Wick and Evelyn was a very nice romance.  I adored how Wick wanted to woo her rather than just kidnap her like his brothers did for their mates.  His Evelyn deserved better.  He tried, he really did.  But destiny, or maybe it was the author, has other ideas.  Their story was just as hot, sweet, and filled with action as the others. However, the ongoing stories going on behind the romance . . . those are another thing altogether.  Ms. Callahan has taken an interesting turn with her dragon shifter series.  Each book features one of the dragonfuries and his finding, wooing(?) and winning of his mate.  But, this series has also turned into an elaborate serial.  There is the ongoing war with the Razorbacks and Ivar’s experiments.  The Archguard in Prague.  Politics are so much fun.  Then there is the issue with the missing Nightfury brothers, Gage and Haider.    In the last book, an unknown brother was introduced.  Can he be trusted?  The Dragonfury world has become quite interesting, if a bit complex.   I cannot say this can be read as a stand-alone.  I would not advise it.  You may enjoy the romance, but you would miss all the backstory of the other plot lines, and yes, there are a few of them.  Some are resolved, some are just expanded upon.  This happy little series is becoming quite a saga.  I still love it though.  Ms. Callahan does a good job keeping it all straight and moving us from one place to the next.  I am just as enthralled as each new mate.  I can’t wait for each new book to come out to see what will happen next.  It is exciting.   For the lovers of Urban Fantasy, this series/serial is a keeper.  All the characters are well developed and as real as dragon shifters can be.  The action of the story is well thought out and well presented.  I so feel as if I am right in the middle of it.  Breath-taking!  My only possible gripe is the fact I have to wait for the next book.  But such often happens in Urban Fantasy.  Although the featured characters, and/or story/line, have resolved their issues, other threads are left dangling.  So, I patiently wait for the next book.   I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The plans of mice and men... 5 out of 5 Stars  What did I like?  I couldn't wait to finish this book. I love that Venom tried to meet her halfway, rather than just kidnap her like all the others. Can't wait for the confrontation with Rodin, hope they kill the son and Rodin too. Speculating that some of the HE females that Ivar has stashed are mates to the other Nightfuries or perhaps Azrad and his crew. What did I not like?  I'm starting to think that Ivar is redeemable.  Recommendation: Wondering who is going to be next.

Not May favorite so far. There was a lot of things that I like about this book. I love Venom and Evelyn I think they are a perfect match and I love all the Nightfury's and the action and suspense was fabulous. But the thing that kept me from loving this book was Venom's and Evelyn's relationship. It was so fast and such a minimal part of the book that it left me disappointed and wanting so much more. I think there was just so much happening in the story that the romance took a back seat to the action and story building.  I can't wait to see what's to come next. There's a nail biting cliffhanger at the end that it's going to be hard to wait until the next book and see who will get their HEA next. I'm looking forward to getting to know Azrad better. I'm very intrigued by his character.

Fury of Obsession by Coreene Callahan Fifth in the Nightfury series, these books just keep getting better and better. Told in several different view points along the same timeline of connected stories, I had to rush through each chapter to find out what happens next in each. Compelling and nail biting tension. The series should be read in order. This is Venom's story. He's feeling a little lonely and left out since his best buddy Wick found a mate."Evelyn would throw down. Ass-plant him like a head of lettuce or something."

He can’t escape the sins of his past… Toxic to all those who touch him, dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation, a prisoner of the poison in his veins. But when a chance meeting with a woman challenges the belief he is destined to be alone, he pulls out all the stops, vowing to put the savagery of his past behind him and take a chance on love.  She doesn’t want to face her future… Wanted by the Russian mob, creative accountant Evelyn Foxe isn’t looking for love. She searching for the fastest way to escape instead. When Venom offers to get her out of trouble, she accepts his help, but remains skeptical, afraid he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when someone unleashes a biological weapon in her hometown, and she gets caught in the firestorm, little choice remains—trust Venom to keep her safe or risk her life by going it alone. Review: In this 5th installment of the Dragonfury series, we get to read about Venom our toxic dragon-warrior and the one woman who can handle his touch, Evelyn.   Now, this being book #5 in the series, you could read it as a stand-alone but I would not recommend it because of the continuing storyline.  It may cause for a little confusion if you read them out of order, but I don't think it would be too much. There is a lot going on in this book and it kind of hurt Venom and Evelyn's story.  For me, their story seemed rushed because of the other simultaneous stories going on.  I just think that so much more detail could have gone into their story, not just the romance part, but the drama of the mobsters after her and the super-bug contagion that she was in the middle of.  The juxtaposition of Venom being toxic, but is this real softy at heart was great and the way he treats her is wonderful. I really like Venom and Evelyn, thought they were well written and had great chemistry, but the other happenings took away from that romance. This story and series for that matter, are action packed and love the war between the good-guys and the bad-guys.  I love to hate Ivar and see his downfall in love coming after this story. I really love this series and enjoyed this installment and cannot wait to see what happens next. 3.5Stars
