Future neighborhoods - Barrios futuros: International poster contest XII Edition - Concurso internacional de Cartel XII Edición
The future seems not to exist beyond our imagination. Sometimes, it seems far away; others, it breaks into our daily lives differently. People don't usually think in the future, not even less consciously and in a communitarian manner. Life itself doesn't allow them to do the exercise of imagining how life will be in thirty, fi fty, one, or fi ve hundred years. What would occur with the houses that will be empty in the next thirty years? How will the park that we walked with our pets today change? How can we organize to protect and preserve the common goods for future generations? How can we hitch better dynamics? What must be our actions and decisions today to get that? The Future's Indigenous network has a clear statement to face it: "The future is a territory to defend."

The 'Escucha mi voz' international poster contest, featured in this book, serves as a beacon of inspiration. It's an invitation for our community to step into the future of our neighborhoods by exploring the key themes that global designers have presented. After a rigorous fi ve-month call process, an international jury panel has chosen fi fty outstanding posters for this book and two public exhibitions in the Mexican cities of Zapopan and Guadalajara. We hope these remarkable posters will ignite a spark in our community, inspiring us to take the future of our neighborhoods into our own hands and design a conscious and communitarian future that starkly contrasts the unilateral vision imposed on today's and tomorrow's citizens by market forces.
