If you're looking for a knight in shining armor, a princess or a fairy godmother, then this is not the story for you.
This is a dark novel. Read at your own risk.
I hate the word yesterday, just like I loathe the idea of tomorrow.
Where would I be without them? Not here. Not anywhere.
Because, where I am dwindling away in the madness is neither here nor there.
My mind is my tormentor, and I am the masochist.
No-matter how I justify it - the blood will always be on my hands. The shadow that lingers wins. He always does, and he will eventually lead me to my demise.
All in due time.
The truth will soon be uncovered.

I was eager to see what Capps would do with this second book in the Killer Series. I was absolutely entralled with Amelia's story in book one and I just knew things would be dark and intense going into book two. I was not disappointed. Gabriel was incredibly dark and intriguing. I felt his inner struggle practically pulsing from the pages. Dani's innner struggles really endeared her to me. Her interactions with Gabriel are both what he needed to heal, as well as what may push him over the edge. I was hooked on finding out what would happen with them. The Shadow Man was a very mental part of the story and had me constantly questioning whether he was real or a figment of the imagination. I loved how crazy and helpless his scenes made me feel. Things continued to increase in intensity and at the very end of Chapter 27, I uttered a big ol' curse word. This book was: Just. Wow. The ending of this book gave me some hope for the future, but I guess I shall see what book three brings to the table.
