Game Strategies And Tactics For Basketballby Kevin Sivils
Game Strategy and Tactics for Basketball: Preparing to Win the Sideline Battles is both a how-to book and a guide for how to plan strategy and tactics for basketball for an entire season or an individual game. Coaches often focus on X's and O's and overlook how and when a particular offense or defense should be applied and used during a game. Game Strategy and Tactics for
Basketball: Preparing to Win the Sideline Battles serves as a planning guide and a master checklist for all the possible situations that a coach will face during a season. The book includes both traditional and some "out-of-the-box" strategies to the common situations that coaches face and provides both the pros and the cons of the approaches described. It is not the author's intention to tell each coach exactly what to do, but to serve as a guide in the decision making process.

Coach Sivils breaks down a number of coaching issues and strategies that a coach needs to think about to have a successful team. The book has helped me immensely!
This book is different from the other basketball coaching books I have read. They were about teaching skills or x's and o's. This book is about strategy, tactics, and planning in advance so you, the coach, know what to do during a game. A lot of what Coach Sivils talked about in this book takes coaches years to learn through experience. Here is his experience in one place for coaches to take advantage of. This is a good book for new coaches, youth coaches, and high school coaches, in fact, it is a good book for any basketball coach. It will make you think a lot about how you coach and the way you want your team to play basketball.
