I think this is a good book for anybody who loves or is learning the game of basketball. In this story the author elaborates on the adversity he¿s went through in order to get to the status that he is in right now. One example of an external conflict that he has faced is, in his first game ever he had to guard one of his all time favorite players Hal Greer back in 1967. He got totally embarrassed and actually he fouled of the game. He was so upset with himself but he didn¿t quit he kept on persevering and got through this situation. Another example of adversity that the author faced is when he was in college, he was academically ineligible so his coach made him play only defense when he was in college. He was highly upset but instead of fighting with coach he started lifting weights and working on his defense and in the end it was a positive thing because it made him the lockdown defender he is today.
The main thing I like about this story is the way he analyzes the game from his point of view, because he really teaches you how to be a player. He doesn¿t tell you around the point he tells you like it is. But that¿s one of things I don¿t like about the story because sometimes he¿s too blunt too me and I know everything he¿s saying is true but some of things he says don¿t appeal to me very well. While I was reading the story I had to keep this in mind, he¿s talking about his experiences and then he talks about the game as if it were two years ago because that¿s when the book came out. So when he does criticize something you have to remember to set your time back 2 years and then think about it. Overall this is a well written book and it can help any up and coming basketball player so if your looking for something to get motivated in the right this book is it.

Clyde gives it to you straight and he's right on the money - about the game itself and today's NBA.

I was a big Clyde fan before reading this book, but even more so afterwards! He covers such a wide range of topics relating to basketball and all are presented with a lot of clarity. Very interesting.
