Overview

New York Times Bestselling Author, HP Mallory, brings you the NuLife Virtual Reality Romance Series which will appeal to fans of West World!

Alaskan detective, Claire Darrow, found herself thrown into a case that defied explanation...

When widow, Florence Tautenbaum, approached Claire with suspicions regarding her husband's death, Claire never imagined where this case would take her—into the virtual reality gaming world sponsored by the NuLife Corporation.

Now that Claire's companion from her first trip into the VR world of Valhalla has been found dead, Claire is doubly intent on figuring out whodunit. Not to mention her sexy boss and captain isn't exactly the patient type.

But the clues remain ever hidden and those Claire does come across are puzzling, to say the least. Searching for answers to numerous questions, Claire finds herself drawn into the gaming world yet again.

This time, Claire enters the virtual world of Gangland where she'll be served up a reality of flappers, model Ts, lavish parties and crime bosses.

And there just might be a familiar face that sets Claire's heart aflutter even as she tries to force her feelings into submission, reminding herself that nothing in the virtual world is real...

Or is it?

I liked this book....a lot!!! I have loved all of H.P. Mallory's books because I am waaaaayyyy into paranormal romances but this book (series) is different and I really like it! Claire is a "real" person and I love seeing the duality of her being a detective and a woman struggling with her feelings! I really liked the first NuLife book, but this one is my new favorite. I love the mix of "Westworld" meets "Black Mirror" that Mallory is able to get in these novels!!! I really liked the seedy underground crime world of Gangland and the fact that Claire has a true character struggle with committing the "crimes." I don't want to give too much away but if you were missing "something" from the first NuLife novel I think you will get it in this one...catch my drift!?!? Overall it is a great book and I can't wait for the next installment and what it unfurls for Claire and Grant!

This was an entertaining, well-written book. Claire, a police detective, has been trying to solve some mysterious deaths and the trail leads to the virtual reality gaming world sponsored by the NuLife Corporation. She enters the gaming world again, intent on finding out the truth. This time she enters the world of flappers, model Ts, parties and crime bosses. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.

This book is exciting and intriguing, there are a ton of twists and turns. The Nulife series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series'. Claire once again goes into the virtual reality world after there has been another mysterious death. She has a mystery contact who advises her to go to Gangland once in the reality world. She accepts and is greeted by a new friend, as well a couple old ones, which is surprising because Channing explains that is not possible. Claire does find out a few more clues, as well as more mysteries and I think she is actually enjoying being in this new world. I am beyond excited for the next book, the end of this one set the next one up expertly. The identity of the new mystery "contact" has be baffled, who could it be, Graham? Channing?? Alty?? I will patiently (cough, cough) wait for the book number 3. Well done HP!!

Learn new vocabulary, like "giggle water", while escaping into a virtual world of adventures. This series is so much fun and so different from anything else I have ever read. It a virtual choose your own adventure, where you are along for a fun ride. Even if you haven't read the first book the second stands on its own. Wonderful read!

Claire is stilling running to dead ends on trying to find out what happened to Tatenbaum and others. She doesn't know where to turn to get the information she needs. Her boss Grant is telling her to get some proof or he will reassign her to other cases, let this one go. Claire also can't seem to forget Thorsten, she doesn't understand it. Her mind knows he is not real, but she wishes to see him. The world she she is in, seems dull in comparsion to that of virtual reality of Valahalla. Claire and Grant have a moment that threatens their friendship, she refuses to go to him to fix it. There is another death, this time with someone she knows from her time at Nulife. She starts to dig into that death as well. Claire gets a message to go Gangland for information. She really wants to go back to Valhalla Once she is in Gangland, she is has to work for a crime boss, he is the spitting image of Thorsten. Who by the way looks like Grant. She makes friends with one of the players in there. They work the quests like she is supposed to, she tries to find out more about the players that passed. The more she is in there, the more she feels she is changing. She is really drawn to the crime boss, she can't fight it. She will meet up with the person that told her to go to Gangland, his message is cryptic. She doesn't understand it. According to others, how the crime boss is acting is not normal, what he does makes her get out of there. What is going on in this program, who is this ally, will she be able to figure everything out before there is another death. This book is really good. Love the original storyline that deals with virtual reality. There is something in this book/series for every one. This series has dug its hooks into me, now can't wait for book 3. I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my honest review.
