As a military wife, Suzi Weinert moved 11 times in 21 years. Relocating so often acquainted her quickly with military thrift shops and later with garage and estate sales. She scouts unique treasures for her family or to fill friend's requests. When her husband retired, she and her family lived for 25 years in McLean, Virginia, which is the setting for her novels. Now with her children grown and flown, she and her husband live in the Virginia countryside. "Every sale reflects a story," she says and apparently, Hallmark agrees. Their two-hour original TV movie based on her first novel, Garage Sale Stalker aired on the Hallmark movie Channel in September 2013. Called "Garage Sale Mystery," the production stars Lori Loughlin. Suzi is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime.

Jennifer Shannon is a cross from the mature and wise Jessica Fletcher and the teenage mystery loving Nancy Drew. Jennifer, a grandmother with grown children and grand children is drawn into a plot of domestic terrorism when she purchases a doll where the leader of a terrorist cell has hidden a cache of diamond to be used to fund their mission in McLean, Virginia. When her identity is discovered by the cell they will stop at nothing to retrieve their diamonds. Soon danger surrounds Jennifer, her family and anyone else who is close to her. Even having a cop for a son-in-law may not be enough to keep Jennifer safe. Fast moving and filled with suspense. If you are expecting the light and airy Hallmark movie then you will be disappointed. Garage Sale Diamonds is a deeper thriller type mystery. The characters are well developed and believable. Ms. Weinert has written her plot so that it flows smoothly and draws a reader into the mystery. With a few twist to keep it from being predictable and you have a story that you will not want to end. Thank you Ms. Weinert for a very enjoyable few hours while I submerge myself into the world of Jennifer Shannon and got to experience the heart racing thrill of the search for answers. My rating is 4 1/2 stars out of 5. If you have not read book 1, Garage Sale Stalker do not worry, Garage Sale Diamonds can be read as a stand-alone.
4 STARS I learned a lot in this complicated mystery. In fact I really liked the joggers answers about Abraham and his connection to three religions. Also learned about what people look for in diamonds. I liked the characters some more than others. Lots of drama and action happening in the book. I also liked some of the life lessons and treats Jennifer did with her grandchildren when they come to stay.(Now if I can remember by the time I have grandchildren it would be fun to do) The plot had lots of parts coming together. Deals with terrorists who are planning attack in McLean, VA. The cell leader was smuggled in with diamonds. He sees a doll in closet and hides the diamonds in the doll. The doll is sold at a garage sale to Jennifer. The terrorists need the diamonds to buy guns and bombs for their mission. Their was so much going on it was almost too much at times. I never got lost in the story and connected with the characters fully. It is a very fast paced book. Most of it happens in VA the Thanks Giving week. Happens in neighborhoods. I love garage sales, thrift stores and shopping on black Friday. I am glad I never had Jennifer's luck. I would like to read the first book in the series. Would read more books by Suzi. I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review by NetGalley. Published September 1st 2013 by Barringer Publishing/Schlesinger Advertising 464 pages ISBN:0989633853
