The Garden by William Charles

William Charles has crafted an eerie, uncomfortable tale of abuse and revenge. As Isobel Watson searches for answers to why her husband, Robert, took his own life, she finds his journal detailing a descent into madness brought on by a recurring dream. In this dream, Robert sees himself tossing the final shovelful of dirt over the body of a small child, but something about the dream feels too real.

About the Author

William resides in Washington, DC with his wife and two children. An unrepentant long time Washington insider, one might conclude the disturbing nature of his novel is reflective of an overdose of politics. He has been writing fiction since attending Cornell twenty years ago and is the author of numerous short stories and other novels that aren't quite so anxiety-ridden.

Loved the style of writing. Not too many charactors. It had me wondering from the very beginning. Then the ending blew me away...a real shocker. I would definitely read more books by this author.

This is an overall interesting book, but the ending kind of left me scratching my head. I still have no idea who actually died!

Rarely do I not finish a book but, this is one of those few occasions. I tried. I read the first 100 pages but, just couldn't bore myself any longer. This is not a good book for me but, it might be for you so, give it a try.

the book was difficult to follow. it was good, but would def have been A LOT better if it was written in a more understandable sequence. would still recommed it for a quick, different read.

I did not care for the rambling style of the 'journal' in the early chapters but then, while the writing got better, the plot turned predictable. Then the ending happened, leaving me completely confused. I won't give away the twist but .... how can that be logically possible?
