Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
In a book designed to show the connection between God's creation and the wonders of science, the authors use the seven days of creation as an ordering principle for a variety of fairly commonplace science experiments. In an introduction called "God the Designer," the authors state explicitly that the universe is a mysterious thing whose mysteries can't be reproduced even by the wisest scientists. God here is the great creator whose power is unrivaled by science but who allows humans to discover for themselves some of the beauty and mystery of God's world. Each section begins with a verse from Genesis, and the experiments in that section focus on the theme of that verse. For example, the section on "Day 5: God Made the Birds and the Fish" precedes simple experiments that will help children discover principles related to birds' bodies and ocean life. The grainy black-and-white drawings of excited kids participating in the various experiments do little to capture any wonder, however. Nevertheless, this is a good book for a homeschool curriculum. Ages 8-14. (July)
