This is hip hop poetry as it should be -- eloquent, funny, wide-ranging and insightful. There's real emotion here, amazing wordplay, a sense of engagement with the culture. Whether he's writing about family, hip hop, religion, race, Nikes, love or New York, Mansbach is on-point. I read the wehole book in one sitting, without planning to.
