Suzette Haden Elgin is the author of the bestselling Gentle Art series and The Grandmother Principles. She is associate professor emeritus of linguistics at San Diego State University and the author of two linguistics texts, as well as numerous science fiction novels. I don't know why this author hasn't gotten more attention because she has so much to offer with her self-defense series. A great book. One thing is that a lot of her books cover the same ground, so you don't need to read all of them. I wanted this for customer service people, but it's really applicable for any tough work situation.
