Overview

Gentle Warrior by Julie Garwood

From New York Times bestselling author and queen of romance Julie Garwood comes this classic novel of a medieval lady who risks everything to win a champion's heart.

In feudal England, Elizabeth Montwright barely escaped the massacre that destroyed her family and exiled her from her ancestral castle. Bent on revenge, she rode again through the fortress gates, disguised as a peasant…to seek aid from Geoffrey Berkley, the powerful baron who had routed the murderers.

He heard her pleas, resisted her demands, and vowed to seduce his beautiful subject. Yet as Elizabeth fought the warrior’s caresses, love flamed for this gallant man who must soon champion her cause…and capture her spirited heart.

I love all her books but this was nothing like her others. This had to be her first book! The male lead was so unlikeable i could barely finish it. Read any of her others but skip this one!

I was actually disappointed in this book. I have read all of Julie Garwood's highland books and this one just wasn't up to par. It seemed like she started with a good idea then got bored with it. The second half of the book was hurried.

When is this coming out as a NOOK BOOK? It seems to be the only Julie Garwood book not available on the Nook. Thanks!

Julie Garwood has been my favourite writer for a few years now. Her words keep you wondering and the characters keep you captivated. Her books are so good, they keep you in your seat and wont let you put the book down, yet it holds onto you and you can read them over and over again and still enjoy them.

I too was disappointed in this book. I usually love Garwood's medieval stories. My favorites are Honor's Splendor, The Bride and The Wedding. However, this one did not have the same appeal.

In the beginning she was portrayed as strong but in reality she bowed down to him at every opportunity. Just when i think she is going to stand up to him, really stand up, she apologizes and does what he wants. I did not have to much respect for her. Wish she was stronger willed. He was mean, abrupt and never talked to her but she fell in love with him? It was an odd match, worked out but she was to malleable to him. Okay but could have been better?

Ms garwood is fantabulous! Have favorites though so i sure wish she would go back to writing her Scottish HIghlands historicals again. Her contemporaries are good but her sweet historicals are wonderful. I luv a strong fearful warrior who melts with just a look from his heroine (only she doesnt know it). I also like a heroine who is spirited and brave but who is kind to others as well as her hero, and who is not hateful, because to me, spirited, brave, and opinionated is not the same thing as hateful. Some writers think it is the same, hateful and hurtful means spirited. Love Ms. Garwood's books!

Out of all the books I have ever read this and the Bride are my # 1 and # 2 books. How anyone can not like this book is beyond me. I guess you have to understand how people lived in that time. Most women were not brought up with the education she got from her Uncle and that made her so special. I loved the fights with powerful men against powerful men. No advantage with mass weapons or guns. I love the whole story I have to read it once a year because I love it so much. I hope you don't pass it by because some people can't put their self in that time Zone. The wars were just great and evil is really evil in this story.
