Geomancist is the fifth book in the Forbidden Arts series, and though I only read the first two installments beside, of course, this one, I can say I'm getting more and more excited upon starting to read them. Miss Pauls has created an explosive mix with characters that truly shine in the fine weaves of the plot. In Geomancist we see determined, broken Sean, trying to salvage his sister's dream of opening a cocktail bar and the feisty firecracker Asia, hellbent in providing her little brother a better future. With two characters so strong-willed and stubborn it's no surprise the chemistry is out of the charts and magnetic. Second case in point. Out of the books I've read in this series, Geomancist was hands down the hottest one. And when I say hot, I mean you-better-call-the-local-firefighters kind of hot. Some scenes were downright sinful and the whole atmosphere sweated hotness from its every pore. The plot, however, was way more simple and straightforward than the previous ones. The action was less frequent, leaving more space to the characters interactions. Even though I loved seeing Sean and Asia together, sometimes I would have wanted a little more adrenaline and a little less serotonine, if you know what I mean. The kingpin's birthday party idea was a winning, original choice, putting both Asia and Sean in a very uncomfortable pair of shoes, having to tread carefully in such dangerous waters. I really enjoyed the character's complexity. With this series you can't go wrong in that department. But there's something that bugged me a little. In the end, they lost their sparkle and the anti-climatic, drawned out last section was a bit of a downer, if compared to the explosive endings of the other two books in my knowledge. Anyway, it was amazing to see the crew all together with their loved ones and get little snippets of what happens after the HEA following each novel in the series. All in all, it was a wonderful read with very good characters, amazing chemistry and of course a style that never disappoints and seems to get better and better over time like a good-aged wine. My only complaint, as I already stated, was the final section not living up to the rest of the book. I woud, however, reccommend "Geomancist" to every paranormal, action, romance lover.

Sean is an introvert and doesn’t let anything out but when Asia’s is in trouble all bets are off. Sean has a secret he is a geomancist and he can cause earthquakes, make volcanoes explode and he can even move mountains. Sean wants to own a bar. Asia moved to Columbia to get her brother into an exclusive art school. Asia wants to own the same bar Sean wants but she wants to make it a spa. Sean wants to own the bar as it was his twin sister’s dream and he has some guilt about his sisters death and she had passed away Asia wants the spa to have a better life and be able to help her family. A drug lord Juan offers both Asia and Sean a job for a week on his private island .It was to celebrate Juan’s birthday. Juan wants Asia but she wants nothing to do with him. Sean powers aren’t working so he has to protect Asia without them. I liked this story alot of action and suspense. I felt bad that Asia caught Juan’s attention. I liked the characters alot other than Juan of course. I did not realize there were other books and this was a series so will try to get them and read them to tie everything together. I loved the twists and turns of this story and I recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Sean is our Geomancist, but he can't access his power any longer, following a traumatic event with his twin sister. He is desperate to own the bar he works in, so he can fulfil his dream. Then Asia walks into his life, and tells him that SHE wants the bar - to change it into a spa to fulfil HER dream! The race is on to see which will raise the money first, and be the owner of the bar/spa. To do this they have to do something that neither of them wanted to - attend a week long private party on a private island owned by a Columbian drug lord. Things don't go according to plan and the book takes a sinister twist. Parts of this story are incredibly "uncomfortable" to read, as well as hot and spicy bits to the story. It unfolds in a way that could only be written by Charmaine Pauls, she keeps you guessing and the story moving in ways that you just don't anticipate. Absolutely thrilling and heart-wrenching, this story is a fantastic addition to the Seven Forbidden Arts series. Highly recommended, and I'm already looking forward to the next book! These get better and better! Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. Sean is a geomancist, he can move mountains, cause earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Or rather he COULD. After a traumatic event, Sean can no longer draw on his power and he settles himself for plans for a cocktail bar. But Asia wants the bar's building, for her spa. When Sean goes head to head with Asia, they end up catering to the guests of a drug baron's week long birthday party. A party which could get them both killed. Book 5 and this series gets better and better! You really should read the other books, in order, to get the full benefit of what is going on. Because we get a little bit more of Godfrey, and what he's up to. And you might not fully follow without the other books. We also get a little bit more of Cain, and just what he has been up to! Didn't see that coming at me! Sean and Asia have a strong an immediate attraction to each other but it takes time for them to come together, fully. I loved being made to wait! And we get both of them! They both have their say and I loved that. Its a little..deadlier...and a little more....adult in its contents. I'm trying NOT to give anything away and elaborating on this would do that, so you just gonna have to find that out for yourself. I love how Pauls is evolving her writing, and you never know just what she is going to through at you. And THAT'S why I love these books so much! Each book is different: its delivery, its characters, its story. And that's what makes them more exciting than the last one, while holding it altogether with that Godfrey story line running throughout. It runs right through to book 9, which means I have 4 more of these babies to look forward to! 5 stars **same worded review will appear on Goodreads, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and Kobo**

***Note: Book provided by Author, in exchange I am providing an honest review*** OK this has been by far the darkest of the seven forbidden Series. The book has several triggers so if you are uncomfortable with some abusive sex scenes and womanizing I would suggest you tread carefully. The book can definitely be read as a stand alone even though it is the 5th book in the Seven Forbidden Arts series. In this book we are introduced to two completely new characters, Sean and Asia. Sean is a Geomancist (he can manipulate the earth) and Asia is pretty much his love interest although at first it does not look like that may be the case. The book starts with Sean and Asia competing to buy a piece of property in Cartagena. The completion is driven by very different reasons. Sean wants to open a bar to somewhat overcome the guilt he feels towards the death of his twin sister and Asia wants to open a SPA to provide for a better life for her brother. Neither one has enough money to actually seal the deal so they need to come up with a way to obtain enough capital to buy the property. Cain figures out that Sean is in need of the money and uses that leverage to make him a proposal he can’t refuse. Sean is to work as a bartender at a Drug Lord’s (Juan) birthday party in order to obtain information that would help Cain bring down Godfrey. The proposal puts Sean and Asia at the drug lord’s island for a week and this is were all hell breaks loose. I must admit that some of the sex scenes were a bit “crazy” for me and I really felt bad for Asia who really was just a pawn in the whole deal. I think Cain took this to a whole new level. It made me really mad that he didn’t care about who was dragged through the mud just so long as he got what he wanted. Unfortunately Asia was the one who had to take the brunt of everything and I really think it was unfair how much she had to go through. I can understand Cain’s lack of compassion but I couldn’t understand the rest of the teams considering how much they had all gone through for their significant others. So even though I liked the book I didn't think I appreciated the turn of events. Regardless I love Charmaine’s writing and if she was able to make me feel absolutely disgusted with some of her characters then I think she got the result she wanted!!!! So pick up your book today and experience the wonderful writing of Charmaine Pauls. I am sure you will not be disappointed! Thanks Charmaine and keep up the great work can’t wait for your next book!!!
