This book is very good, very detailed, I really enjoyed it...except the part about breeding. It in depth, described how a dog should be muzzled, and held by 4 or 5 people, if it doesn't want to be bred. 1st of all, NO RESPECTIBLE breeder would EVER breed a dog with that kind of temperament quality, and two, ANY smart Stud Dog owner wouldn't risk damaging their stud dog, and possibly hurting the female. Also, the author recommends keeping TIGHT-KNIT breeding, and I qoute, 'To keep desireable qualities, we suggest breeding your female to either grandsire, or first cousin.' If you want to have a good child, are you going to breed with one of your realitives?! THATS INCEST!

The authors failed to discuss about the difference between the german and american types of the breed. Which every GSD owner should know.

THis is the best GSD book I have ever read. It talks about every thing (about GSD's). If you are just starting out or been in the business 100 years, this book will help. It did get alittle boring in Chap.33, so I skipped it. But still, it's great.

This is a wonderful book. It is loaded with pictures of famous German and American dogs. A lot of the other books out there have very dated pictures or pictures of dogs that are not representative of the breed standard. I think both newcomers to the breed and longtime fans will be pleased with this book.

This breed book is one ofy favorites as it addresses the many various points and uses of the GSD without being excessive. The authors are all outstanding fanciers as well. A must for GSD fans imo

This book would have been great if not for the section about breeding. It contains detailed suggestions on how to force dogs into mating, it sounds more like a description of a rape. Inhumane!
