About the Author

Reba Buhr is a musical theater nerd from Maple Valley, Washington. She has worked and played in the entertainment industry since she was a teenager and has bachelor’s degrees in theater and voice from Occidental College. Today she makes her money as an actress, host, and voice actor in Los Angeles.

Reba’s voice can be heard in dozens of animated projects and video games; she has narrated over 200 audiobooks, and earned several AudioFile reviews and awards for her work. She is a Groundlings-trained improviser and comedienne. Her hosting career began as the host of the Disney Channel Interstitial Disney 365 where she interviewed stars like Zendaya, Bella Thorne, and Jane Goodall. She also worked at the Disneyland Resort for many years playing characters like Princess Jasmine in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular! and a Jedi Knight in the Jedi Training Academy. Clips of her work can be found at www.rebabuhr.com.

Reba was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when she was twenty, and her panic attacks have created big changes in her life and ruined several vacations. She’s an open-book kind of girl and has always been an advocate for mental health treatment in a world where many people feel pressure to hide their diagnosis.

One day, Reba was approached by a friend who asked, “I know you have experience with anxiety. How do I get help?” Soon another distressed friend came calling for advice about anxiety medication. As the calls and texts kept rolling in, she realized there was a need for a comprehensive
“Intro to Mental Health in America.”

Get Thee to a Therapist is her debut book and is born out of many years of doing the healing work herself, guiding friends toward helpful resources, and finding and interviewing professionals in every area of mental health so she could really understand how the system worked.

When she’s not acting or advocating, she loves camping with her husband, John, and practicing Taekwondo.
