First, let me say that I am just an ordinary reader like the majoriy of you, looking only for good books to read. For me to even attempt a review means I really love the book! Tessa Bailey in the Getaway Girl managed to capture all the ingredients to make this a favorite read. The characters came alive on the pages and I was hooked completely as early as chaper one. I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at times, as well as, having to put my reader down to find the kleenex box on others. Addison is now one of my favorite female characters. Elijah had me scowling and shaking my head sometimes but in the end he melted Addison and my hearts. Maybe Tessa could write a second book based on these two please? The Getaway Couple? Anyway I'm not sending this book to the icloud yet since I want to reread it.

If you don't already know, I'm a HUGE Tessa Bailey fan girl. She is literally the QUEEN of dirty talk in my book. I've been following and reading her since her first published book and I've refused to look back since. GETAWAY GIRL is her second self published novel and it sure as hell does NOT disappoint. I might be biased, but this is without a doubt, the best book that TB has ever written. It's packed full of emotions, a fresh story line, and unique characters. With the added bonus of the setting of Charleston, South Carolina being the perfect backdrop for this steamy story. I actually found myself reading this book in short spurts because I didn't want it to ever end. Addison and Elijah are sexy, sultry, swoony, and explosively HOT! I really enjoyed the solid and strong connection between them. With other writers, the way Addison and Elijah came together might seem like insta-love. But not with Tessa. She makes you feel like you're a voyeur in person for each step in their relationship. (There's nothing wrong with insta-love storylines, this is just not one of those books.) There is more than just a physical attraction between these two characters. This was two souls recognizing each other and madly falling in love with each other. GETAWAY GIRL has easily become my first 6 star read of 2018 and one that I know I will be rereading soon. If you're new to Tessa Bailey, this is a good entry point for you to jump into the delicious, sexy, dirty talking, alpha filled worlds that she so magically creates. This book is a complete standalone, but I imagine we will be seeing other characters stories down the road. At least I hope so. To answer your question that you posed to the reader at the end of the book Ms. Tessa Bailey, YES! I want to hear more about this mysterious girls story!

I found Getaway Girl to be an enjoyable read. I loved that the author switched it up a bit, she's known for her dirty talking heroes, Elijah is a dirty talker but so too is the heroine, Addison. I loved that aspect of it. I also loved watching them fall for each other and their hot sex scenes. Do I recommend this book, yes I most certainly do?

I really enjoyed reading this book. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it drew me in. The chemistry between characters was the best part. I highly recommend this book.

OMG what a story. Don't know what I was expecting but this book surpassed anything I could have imagined. Tessa Bailey is so talented and her books are amazing. Elijah and Addison were the perfect couple. Their relationship was so beautiful. Although Addison did not come from the same background as him she was his perfect mate. She made him feel real and not the person everyone expected him to be. He thought what he had with Naomi was love but what he found with Addison was so much more and it was real. Not something that was supposed to be because of his position. He never knew what real love and a relationship was until Addison. Yet he was afraid of it. Addison allowed him to be the person not even himself knew. She uncovered his darkest desires and they shared them together. Something he never had with anyone else. They were a match made in Heaven. Getaway Girl is such a beautiful, romantic story that will make you unable to put down. Once again Tessa Bailey amazes her readers with a 5+ star story you don't want to miss.

I am a little mad at myself for not reading a Tessa Bailey book before this one. I absolutely LOVED this book!! Getaway Girl is a sexy, funny, heartwarming read with outstanding characters and off the charts character chemistry. Addison and Elijah are the best!! She is such a great heroine. Smart, caring, and sassy. A real ride or die chick. He is a sweet, charming, dirty talking dreamboat. Together they're perfection. I loved loved loved their fast and genuine relationship. They're friendship goals, relationship goals, and just everything goals. I cannot express enough how much I loved this book. I highly highly recommend this book. If Tessa Bailey's books are more like this one, I can't wait to dive into more.

Sooooo good!! I loved the emotion of this book and the characters and the hot sexiness!! (Whew - it was off the charts!) AND the humor - just everything. Charleston was the perfect backdrop for this story. I loved it from start to finish and even teared up near the end. Had my emotions fully engaged. Totally recommend. Not related to any series so can be read as a full standalone. Am intrigued about those 2 months in Florida and wouldn't hate it if the author decided to let us in on the story...

This is one of my favorites by Tessa Bailey!! It was steamy, romantic, and funny. Will be reading again. Tessa never fails to bring her characters to life. You can feel their happiness and pain. This may be my favorite couple in Tessa's world.

This was the first book that I have read by Tessa Bailey and I really enjoyed it. Getaway Girl is a friends to lovers romance with a sassy, feisty heroine and a hero that is not only handsome, but has a complex about his bubble butt. Addison is there when Elijah gets left standing at the alter, she gives the poor jilted groom a ride and a place to stay out of the public eye, after all he is a politician running for mayor of beautiful Charleston, SC. Elijah is clueless when it comes to love but he is about to find out what it is all about. Question is will Addison's past hurt his political career or help it? You will have to read it to find out. This book has it all, romance, passion, secrets, love, sadness, happiness and fun. So why not grab yourself a comfortable seat and find out why Addison's nickname is Goose and see what Christmas feels like all year long, and why her business is named Jingle Balls!! Five fun filled stars for this one, loved it!

I loved this book even more when I read the author's note afterwards that said where she got the idea for the story--from a family vacation in Charleston, SC. "How I came up with my story idea" revelations are my catnip :) Long before I got to that point, though, I was loving the heck out of Elijah and Addison's story. Their "meet cute" was fantastic--crashing her estranged cousin's wedding, Addison ends up being the groom's "Getaway Girl" when her cousin leaves him at the altar and he decides not to hang around for the pity party that's sure to follow. Right from the beginning they seem like an unlikely couple--her mother was notorious in Charleston society back in the day, and he's practically southern royalty as son of the current mayor and the most likely future one himself. Plus, his butt has a Twitter account (@DuPontBadonk). And it's got a nice sense of humor to boot. But right from the start they have killer chemistry--since she offers him the bottle of Gray Goose she had in her glove compartment as they make their escape, he nicknames her "Goose" (which only made me think of Anthony Edwards once or twice) and she calls him "Captain", referring to his stint in the military. Their relationship is quirky and fun as they progress from friends to best friends and unofficial roommates. He glues snowman buttons on ornaments for her, y'all. It's freaking adorable. Naturally they're both thinking of taking things further--especially once Addison hears about his posterior's social media presence and finally begins to appreciate the 3-D version that's frequently camped out at her tiny apartment--but they manfully resist for several chapters. Until they don't anymore. Then things turn steamy, then they turn dicey, and then they seem to fall apart--as you know they're bound to, because gosh darn it Addison's convinced that Elijah's still in love with his ex but won't talk to him about it because she's enjoying the fun little bubble they're living in in the moment. (Not to be confused with his bubblicious butt, of course.) When the disaster finally comes I never saw it playing out in the way that it does, and spent much time seriously annoyed with Elijah. (He eventually explains his reasoning, and okay, I guess I can see his point there, but geesh...) Fortunately his finally manages to pull his head out of his pretty posterior and we get to our HEA in spectacular fashion--and one heck of a fun epilogue too. I'm squealing all over again, just thinking about it. Definitely recommend! Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

***Review posted on The Eater of Books! blog** Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey Publication Date: March 26, 2018 Rating: 4 stars Source: eARC provided by publicity company Official Summary: This unlikely getaway driver never expected to help the mayor escape… After a six-year absence, Addison Potts is back in Charleston to stir things up. And what better place to make her villainous return than her estranged cousin’s wedding? Only, the nuptials hit a snag when the bride doesn’t show, leaving Addison to play getaway driver for the jilted groom. A groom whose heartbreaking smile and deep, southern drawl she should not be noticing… Elijah Montgomery Du Pont is the future mayor of Charleston. From his military career to city hall, every detail of his life has been meticulously planned. Until now. His only respite from life’s sudden upheaval is Addison, his new, improbable best friend. She makes him happy. Grounds him. And public disapproval be damned, he’s not willing to give her up. But with an election on the line and public pressure rising, Addison—and the cruel hand of fate—might not give him a choice. What I Liked: Tessa Bailey's books and I go a long way back, starting with Officer Off Limits, which is still one of my favorites of hers and one of my favorite Entangled Brazen novels to date. Bailey's books always deliver the sexy, the sweet, the dirty, and the HEA. Getaway Girl is Bailey's second self-published novel and it is yet another hit for me! Addison Potts is back in Charleston, after her grandmother died and left her a business to run. The book starts with Addison sneaking into her cousin's wedding - her prim, rich, golden-girl cousin is marrying the golden boy, mayor's son, future mayor himself. When Addison lays eyes on the groom, she knows there is something about this man. There is an instant heat, but that's her cousin's husband-to-be, right? Wrong. Naomi stands up Elijah, leaving Elijah alone in a church full of southerners who want to see a wedding. What's a guy to do? Leave. And what's a girl to do? Offer him a ride to get away, of course. Elijah and Addison strike up an unconventional friendship, with her offering him her home as a sanctuary, as friends. With Addison, Elijah feels comfort, home, and peace. With Elijah, Addison feels less adrift in Charleston. But friendship isn't what either of them want. With the election looming, Elijah can't afford another scandal, especially not the kind involving Addison Potts, who has a history of her own in Charleston. Addison is such a tough lady, and it was impossibly easy to like her. She is prickly at times, and she delivers honesty and bluntness with no games or sugar-coating. She has thick skin, especially with her family history in Charleston - she has to have thick skin. Addison also has a good heart; she opened her home to a stranger, seeing that he needed comfort and simplicity. Elijah is such a southern gentleman, with the charm and the manners. He treats Addison like a proper lady, he doesn't curse (not aloud, anyway), he uses manners like "yes ma'am", and he thinks of everyone else first. He's the mayor's son and he is set to win the upcoming election and take his father's place. Elijah has always had a lot of expectations placed on him, and he handles them well, but sometimes expectations are overwhelming. Oh my gosh. Coming up with the right words to describe my love for this book is so difficult. The amazing Tessa Bailey has been hinting about her bubble-butt hero on her Facebook group for months and I couldn't wait to get my hands on him! I got an "early" copy of this book at Apollycon this weekend and had to stop myself multiple times from reading it right away. I knew if I opened the book, I won't stop until I finished and I had Apollycon events to go to. However, once I got home and settled, I grabbed Getaway Girl and a cup of tea and basically didn't get off my couch until I finished it. And I adored every minute of the read. Addison and Elijah are my new favorite characters. I cannot express how much I love them. Okay, gushing over. Now I'll focus on why this book is my top of 2018 already. This is a friends to lovers romance. Addison crashes her cousin's wedding to Elijah in time to see him being left at the altar. She offers him a ride and thus becomes the "Getaway Girl". To be honest, I was a little concerned this book would turn into a "run away from your problems road-trip" which sometimes can annoy me. However, to my delight, Elijah basically crashes at Addison's place for a night and then goes back to face his new reality. But with a new friendship. Addison, who is in Charleston after her grandma's death, has a harsh family history and reputation hanging over her head. Elijah, in contrast, is the darling of Charleston and is running for mayor. Addison becomes his escape from life in the public eye and Elijah becomes her support for changes she makes in her life. Both fight their attraction to each other to avoid ruining their friendship. But when they do give in, wow, do sparks fly. Tessa Bailey has always been the absolute queen of dirty-talking heroes. And Elijah does his fair share of dirty-talking. However, it's Addison who really has the hot mouth. And her appreciation of Elijah's thick bubble-butt, which he is self-conscious about, is just perfect. I don't blame him for being self-conscious, I would be too if my butt had it's own Twitter! As you can see, Tessa interjects humor into the sensuality of this story. There were moments in this book that made me cry. There were moments that made me stop and screenshot parts to Tessa's Facebook group because I wanted to share the humor. When I finished the book, I honestly hugged it to my chest. And then I went and bought a copy for my friend's birthday so she can share in its total awesomeness. This book just had so much heart and heat. It truly touched me and I can not share enough how much I loved it. If Getaway Girl is the only romance novel I read for the rest of my life, I would die happy. Stop everything and read it now!

Oh Captain, my captain! So, I seriously don't think I could love this book any more, without it causing me to spontaneously combust. I am obsessed with these characters and their sweet, funny, sexy story. I could not get enough. 5+ Stars!! Addison Potts hasn't been back in her hometown of Charleston for years. She's been living in NYC, but when her grandmother passes away and leaves everything to Addison, she returns to tie up all the loose ends. She has no intention of staying. Her extended family situation isn't good, thanks to her absentee mother's prior misdeeds. But, since she enjoys stirring the pot, she shows up uninvited to her cousin Naomi's wedding. A wedding that never happens after all. She has no idea what's coming for her, but when she lays eyes on the groom, she falls head over heels. But he needs a friend after being jilted at the alter. So that's what she'll be. Captain Elijah Montgomery DuPont is the epitome of southern class and elegance in a man. His manners are pristine. His family is above reproach. His father has been the mayor of Charleston for a long time, and Elijah is poised to take his father's place with this next election. So, he takes the expected steps to marry well, to family friend Naomi, who is also from a respected local family. When she leaves him at the altar, he's shocked. So shocked, that when he walks out of the church to find Addison in her old clunker of a car, offering to help him get away quickly, he takes her up on it. Even though he's never seen her before in his life. There are so many demands on Elijah's time and attention, and he lives so much in the public eye, that he's not sure he can go anywhere to get away from it all. But, Addison brings him to her grandmother's apartment, where she's been staying, and the peace he finds there is addicting. He needs more, and he's thrilled to have found a real friend in Addison. Elijah and Addison truly start off as friends, and end up as best friends. She and her home are a place of respite from Elijah's busy life, and he's so thankful to have found her. But, Addison is in love with him, more so every day. She never lets on how she feels, as she believes he's still not over what happened at his non-wedding, or over his ex, and she doesn't want to lose him from her life. So she maintains the status quo until she just can't anymore. And boy do sparks fly when that happens! Their chemistry is crazy hot, and I loved their banter, both as friends, and in the bedroom. Tessa Bailey is known for her fantastically dirty talking heroes, but this time, the heroine was the dirty talking queen, and I loved that! Also, Elijah's butt having it's own Twitter account was hilarious, and I so wish it was a real thing! The fact that he was self-conscious of his behind made it even better. While this was a friends to lovers story, it was so different in it's approach. They had only been friends for a few months, but their friendship was strong, and was the most important thing in each of their lives. When they became lovers, it seemed so easy, as they already knew most everything about each other, and this seemed like the final piece. Even though at the time neither of them realized how much it would change everything. I absolutely cannot recommend this book highly enough. Everything about it was PERFECT for me, and I can't wait to read it all over again. It's a keeper for certain!
