At sixteen, Sarah Atwell walked away from her love of horses and a promising career as a competitive rider after discovering she'd inherited the family curse. Years later, her grandmother stunned everyone by leaving Sarah her horse farm—worth millions—but with conditions Sarah might not be able to meet.

A former Redclaw agent, Casey Barnes retired when a security assignment went bad, killing his partner and leaving him as a partial amputee. His inner wolf is in hiding. He's been living quietly as a horse trainer, but June Atwell's death now pits him against her granddaughter for rights to the stable.

With both of them snowed in at the farm, a series of increasingly serious accidents draws Sarah and Casey closer together, but they each harbor secrets that might tear them apart.

It's as if the writer was told to shorten the story any way possible and she did it by chopping out whole events that explain plot points. The story takes place during 3... 4 days? And during this whirlwind she not only finds new respect for her personal nemesis and the killer but the love of her life. UGH! So much for the "smart" heroin. The climactic church scene is so full of plot holes it's ridiculous. Tell me please how a bad guy ties up a person (whom he's already said he was going to kill when he's done tying them up) one handed, with another person standing right there and have the second person do NOTHING to prevent bad things from happening? The bad guy is distracted! Jump on in there, knock the gun away, slug him, do SOMETHING! Obviously the main characters are morons.

You can’t go wrong with adventure, suspense, romance, and ghosts – it’s all there in this book! This was a fun cozy mystery read. The characters are likeable and the plot has some good twists. I loved it! I received a free copy but my review is voluntary.

Ghost Of A Chance by McKenna Dean Sarah inherits her grandmothers farm after her passing but has certain stipulations to follow for six weeks otherwise it all goes to Casey. Casey shocked at this plans to help her figure out the routine and leave her to it knowing she will most likely sale it after six weeks is up. What the two didn’t forsee is getting snowed in together there. As the two come to terms with each other trouble begins on the farm and in Sarah’s life. It seems to bring them together but they also have huge secrets. I loved this shifter romance and could not stop reading it. I could easily relate to Sarah’s character and her love of horses. She goes through a lot in this novel that changes everything for her. She was a very strong female character. I definitely feel that this book deserves 5 stars.

Ghost of a Chance (Redclaw Security #2) by McKenna Dean was a entertaining, light heart shifter romance, that has me hooked from start to finish. , My first read by this author I didn't know what to expect. This book had all the cheesy goodness I loved, mixed in with good character development and a surprised mystery that even I didn't see coming, made this book more than entertaining, it made it fun, emotional and down right amazing. I have to say, this book hooked me almost right away. Right from that car hid down with Sarah's jerk of a man, with made me want to stuff his phone were the sun don't shine. What a inconsiderate prick, not only with the way he treated her about her grandmother passing, but about her interest (that use to his), using the excuse that they're adults. The adult thing to do would be not embarrassed about your likes, interest, especially your partners, that you're going to spend the rest of your life with. She should have left him on the side of the rode. Well done to the author for creating that dislike, so when Casey's moved in, it made me feel like it was well warranted and not annoying. Simon can go pound sand. Outside of the well rounded multi layered characters, the writing was easy to follow and had a lightness to it, that just warmed your heart strings. I have to say as much as I liked Sarah, I was really drawn to Casey. There was just something in his demeanor that was refreshing. He wasn't your normal brewing alpha male MC. He was realistic and even though he was a shifter, he felt very human to me. My disconnect from Sarah was her biased shallow view on country men, and how only well read educated men were worth her time. I'm a opened minded person and I come from a small town, and not have I once thought like that. So on that front, I don't think Sarah and I would have gotten along. Well not at the start of the story anyways. Overall I very much enjoyed this book and I'm lovin the whole shifter security thing. I'm going to have to go back a read the first book, they are written as stand alones, so no worries about reading out of order. If you haven't guested I'm giving this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

Ghost of a Chance is a delightful standalone novel in McKenna Dean’s Redclaw security series. Sarah Atwell could not have distanced herself further from her horse riding past. After the accident she swore of horses and her grandmother’s farm, throwing herself instead into a world of IT and small cubicle offices. She buried her past, along with her family’s curse. That is until it all comes back again when her grandmother gives Sarah the farm in her will, along with a set of conditions. Conditions that put her side by side with Casey Barnes (fitting last name), a horse trainer that is a retired Redclaw agent. I found the pacing a little slow in the beginning, as there were all these secrets and intrigue, but the plot was moving at a snail’s pace. But once the tension began to build and the chemistry between Sarah and Casey began to get steamy, I was hooked. The story was predictable at times, since early on it’s hinted that there’s more to the attraction than meets the eye, and you know ultimately how it will end. But regardless of that, it was still light and fun to read. I imagined Casey as Jamie from outlander, tall, muscular, and rugged with dark red hair and very hot. Both characters were well developed and realistic throughout the novel, and were very engaging characters to read from. Overall I gave Ghost of a Chance 4/5 stars

Ghost of a Chance- McKenna Dean 4-stars Ghost of a Chance by McKenna Dean is a great paranormal read! It’s the second book in the Redclaw Security series and it’s also my first book by this author so I can assure you that it can be read as a standalone as I was easily able to follow along having not read the first one. From the very start I was hooked, I couldn’t wait to find out all about Casey and Sarah, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. It’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal shifter read, and I’m not sure why it’s been so long because I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was steamy, detailed, intriguing, dramatic and suspenseful. There was constantly something going which made it highly entertaining. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat as each new chapter brought something new to the table. And I enjoyed trying to figure it all out. Now that I’ve read this one I will be jumping right into book 1 as soon as possible. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next paranormal read!
