Emerald O'Brien is the owner of the Chintz 'n China Tea Room where guests are served the perfect blend of teas and tarot readings. She never set out to be a detective, but once word gets out that she can communicate with the dead, there's no turning back... When the ghost of Susan Mitchell asks for Emerald's help in convicting her own murderer, Emerald can't refuse. Talk about immediately pulling you into the story ...this one excels! Emerald is so believable, I suppose because she's real enough to want to invite her for tea...the characters are so very likable; the children ...what can I say, I'd babysit them in a heartbeat! Susan, the ghost, downright pitiful...and the 'nasty'?... Ye gods! Scarier than hell! And, throughout the book I kept thinking, 'for Pete's sake, don't let Andrew, the love interest, turn out to be a bad guy'! All in all, I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who loves a roller coaster of a read..aloha.

I really liked this book, I thought it was a wonderful beginning on a series; most definitely made me want to read more about the characters and get to know them better. Such a shame that Yasmine stopped writing it, but better to quit while she was ahead than to create something that would fizzle out and be sub par.

This mystery engaged my interest right away. I liked the premise, and the characters were good, too. Toward the end of the book I kind of wondered about Andrew, but I'll read the next one and see if he becomes clearer to me.

Not really into other worldly books but the fact this was a mystery sounded interesting. I enjoyed this easy read and the characters even if ending was predictable. I will definitely read another.

Very interesting characters. Mystery & Magic.

The afternotes in the book actually explain why one feels like something is missing throughout reading the book. However, the main character in the book gets quite unrational at some of the strangest times.

I either misread the description of what the the book was about or....it does have some mystery and paranormal.it also has murder and a psyco. I actually skipped the sex parts( I wasnt expecting that) i dont like the use of vulgar language. There wasnt alot but too much for me. Most of the story was good. I kinda just skimmed the last 5 chapters. If you like this sort..go for it. I hope you enjoy

First in the Chintz n China series, this book will grab your attention and take you away to a different world of ghostly entities. It is easy to relate to Emerald and her family and find yourself wrapped up in their lives. Looking forward to the rest of this series
