When the ghost of Susan Mitchell asks for Emerald's help in convicting her own murderer, Emerald can't refuse. Along with her friends-an ex-supermodel and a cop-and her new love interest, Emerald must search for clues to put the killer behind bars, and Susan's tortured soul to rest.

Talk about immediately pulling you into the story ...this one excels! Emerald is so believable, I suppose because she's real enough to want to invite her for tea...the characters are so very likable; the children ...what can I say, I'd babysit them in a heartbeat! Susan, the ghost, downright pitiful...and the 'nasty'?... Ye gods! Scarier than hell! And, throughout the book I kept thinking, 'for Pete's sake, don't let Andrew, the love interest, turn out to be a bad guy'! All in all, I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who loves a roller coaster of a read..aloha.

This mystery engaged my interest right away. I liked the premise, and the characters were good, too. Toward the end of the book I kind of wondered about Andrew, but I'll read the next one and see if he becomes clearer to me.

I really liked this book, I thought it was a wonderful beginning on a series; most definitely made me want to read more about the characters and get to know them better. Such a shame that Yasmine stopped writing it, but better to quit while she was ahead than to create something that would fizzle out and be sub par.

I absolutely loved this book! It gives a new spin on the supernatural! No gore and yucky bloody messes! It's realistic and a lot of fun. ADORE the characters! Keep reading this series you'll love it!

Kept me interested enough to finish book. Characters interesting but not fleshed out enough. Maybe next book we will get more information on the characters as she leaves her kids all over the place and the cats too. She should have known more about which magic to use sooner.

Pretty good. A bit weird with all the evil ghost stuff but nice twist at the end.

I enjoyed this first in Galenorn's Chintz 'n China mysteries. We are introduced to Emerald O'Brien, who owns a small teashop (more like a tea room actually) in northern Washington state. In addition to selling fine china, serving tea and the occasional lunch, she also reads Tarot cards for her customers and is inofficially known as the town Witch. Because of her psychic abilities, she's also a beacon to the ghost of a recently deceased romance writer who lived nearby.I found the story engaging enough to hold my interest though I did think the author got a bit overly descriptive at times, but not too much so. Some of that could just be my recent reading of lots of books that either had a lot of action or are young adult reads which usually don't include overly descriptive paragraphs. Though the mystery part was resolved satisfactorily, the part to do with Emerald's personal life left me looking forward to the next in the series. :-)

Excellent reading! I didn't want to put it down. Lovely characters, fast moving and exciting. I usually do not read ghost stories..... I am so glad i made an exception. I also have to say that the cover actually drew me to this book! A must read!

Not really into other worldly books but the fact this was a mystery sounded interesting. I enjoyed this easy read and the characters even if ending was predictable. I will definitely read another.
