About the Author
Linda Kreger Silverman, PhD, is the Director of the Institute for the Study of Advanced Development (ISAD) and its subsidiary, the Gifted Development Center, in Denver, CO. Since 1994, she has served as a visiting professor or adjunct faculty member in psychology and/or education at the University of New South Wales (Australia), Iowa State University, Whitworth University (Spokane, WA), University of Melbourne (Australia), and Carlow College (Pittsburgh, PA.) Her textbook, Counseling the Gifted and Talented, has been adopted at more than 50 colleges and universities. In 1989 Dr. Silverman founded the only journal on adult giftedness, Advanced Development, and still serves on its editorial board. She has contributed over 300 articles and chapters on the assessment, psychology and education of the gifted in such journals as Gifted Education International, Peabody Journal of Education, The Journal of Secondary Gifted Education, Journal of Educational Psychology, Gifted Child Quarterly, and Journal for the Education of the Gifted. She has been appointed to the American Psychological Association task force on giftedness, the National Association for Gifted Children task force on social and emotional needs of the gifted, served on the expert panel guiding the next revision of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, and is a past-president of the Colorado Association for the Gifted and Talented. She has been interviewed and quoted extensively in the popular media on her expertise on giftedness and frequently presents lectures, presentations, and workshops on the psychology of giftedness, gifted education, and visual-spatial learning.
