Overview

Between training her new puppy, helping her sister with her baby, and searching for the perfect vintage dress for Kismet's Valentine's Day dance, home-stager Caprice De Luca has a lot on her to-do list. But she's never too busy to do a little staging, and she's looking forward to thawing February's frozen real estate market with her Hearts and Flowers Open House. Her client Louise Downing's romantically decorated home practically staged itself. But when Louise is found murdered, Caprice is forced to turn her attention from sweethearts to suspects. And as the truth comes out in stages, she discovers that Louise had more secrets than a box of chocolate truffles. . .

Praise for Staged to Death

"A fascinating inside look at the art of home-staging—but did I mention it's also an elegantly crafted murder mystery featuring an irresistible sleuth?" —Leslie Meier

I really enjoyed this book. It is the first one that I have read in her series. I loved the characters and the mystery that takes place. I did not know who the killer was until the very end, so that is a great thing when you buy a cozy book. The only reason I gave this book a four instead of a five is a pet peeve that I have picked up in some of these books. If the words "As if it is like" comes up more then one or two times it is a distraction from the story. Even though it had a few of these it did not distract me enough to stop reading. I would continue to buy more by this author and have already purchased the first one in the series.

This was a great cozy about a home stager who finds her mother's best friend murdered and is desperate to find out who the killer is. A great host of characters, good food, sweet pets and a loving family are all a part of this lovely cozy. If you like a good mystery that you can snuggle up to with a hot cup of tea on a cold night, Gilt by Association is right for you.

Title: Gilt By Association - Caprice DeLuca Home Staging Mystery 3 Author: Karen Rose Smith Published: 1-27-16 Publisher: Kensington Books Pages: 320 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Amateur Sleuths; Cooking; Food & Wine; Cozy Mystery ISBN: 9780758284884 ASIN: B00M4A5QF0 Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley . With the winter months being slow season for the real estate market in Kismet, PA home owners know that anyone willing to search for a new home is serious about purchasing. Hired by Louise and Chet Downing to stage their home for an open house, Caprice DeLuca decides to use the time of year to guide her theme. As the open house will be over the Valentine holiday she goes with a hearts and flower theme. During one of their final consultations Louise seems a bit distracted and it seems there may be a problem with her marriage as well. Putting it down to stress Caprice and her sister Nikki who is catering the event gather their notes and leave. When Louise is found dead in her greenhouse Caprice's mother asks her to check into her death and see if she can find out what happened to her longtime friend. The more Caprice digs into Louise's past the more she and her mother realize they did not know their old friend as well as they thought they did. I read Gilt By Association after Drape Expectations, but as each book can be read as standalones it did not detract from either story. The plot is well thought out and planned. I loved the closeness of the DeLuca family members and how they supported one another. Clarice is an independent woman who dances to a different drummer. She idolizes the 60's style color scheme in both her decor and clothing. Her love of animals is shared by her family and her many friends. Caprice is willing to put it all on the line when she goes to help family or friend. Karen Rose Smith has a winner of her hands with Gilt By Association. As a bonus for her readers she gives us some delicious recipes to enjoy as well. My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.

I loved this book. Karen Rose Smith is a phenomenal author. This book kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I loved all the twists and turns it took. I love Caprice and her family and how they truly love and care for each other. I learned a lot about staging homes. If you love intrigue, mystery, food and animals then you will love this book and this series! I highly recommend anything Karen Rose Smith writes! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Well, I used to be an Interior Decorator, so love the fun light-hearted reads. I recommend this series. Can't wait for the next one. The characters are believable and like the everyday folks you meet. It's my niche.

It's really easy to get wrapped up in this cozy mystery. This was the first book I'd read in the series, but I really enjoyed it and didn't feel lost, though I want to get back and read the other two because the book was so good. I definitely recommend this series to those that love cozy mysteries featuring animals.

Caprice DeLuca 's home staging business is booming with her latest house belonging to Chet and Louise Downing. The Downings want to sell and be able to travel once Chet also sells his Pretzel Party which is a snack store. The Downings hire Caprice to stage their house and so the theme will be hearts and flowers since it will be Valentine's Day when the open house is held. Louise is all about hearts and flowers so this fits right in with her lifestyle. Louise has a lovely greenhouse built onto her house and she spends alot of time there. She loves the flowers and all her plants. Everything was going smooth until the day of the open house and Louise is found dead inside her lovely greenhouse. Not just dead but murdered. Caprice went looking for Louise when she realized her car was still in the garage when Louise should had been at another appointment which was earlier in the day. Caprice was shocked and more concerned about Louise then maybe is normal but Louise is her mother's best friend. Caprice has been involved in past murders of her clients and seems to always get into the investigations. This is no exception since her mother's friend is the one murdered. She faces dangers and needs to find answers when some one she knows has such a crime done to them. The plot thickens and many unknown facts sets up for a very interesting story what will have the reader turning page after page to get to the answer of who the bad person is. This is the third book where Caprice DeLuca is into a murder case and I hope it will not be the last. Karen Rose Smith writes such a great book and I look forward to many more of her books. I highly recommend this book .

It seems like I waited a long time for this book, the 3rd in the series.  It was well worth the wait.  Usually I at least have a clue to "who done It',  but this one had me stymied. Love how the animals are included.  .I can't wait for the next one.
